While the Juice Crew were busy battling The Bronx, Philadelphia’s Cool C jumped into the mix with this banger on Pop Art Records. It may be called “Juice Crew Dis” but the lyrics are aimed squarely at MC Shan, dissing him for fronting on Philly after they gave him his start. Both songs from 1987.

This was the very time I ever heard Denise Williams record. The very first record of her. From that other great songs like Black Butterfly. And also the album duet she did with Johnnie Mathis in the late seventies. Of course her other hits along the way. Of course that beautiful voice octave 5 if I'm correct. She was also a background singer for Stevie Wonder including friend Minnie Riperton. Denise Williams still sings til day. And does concerts from time to time.

Love this song from Bobby Caldwell from What I Wouldn't For Love album. From the time I heard his voice and thr deep soul he processes throughtout his work through time. Many in Hip Hop have used his melodies from Common to 2Pac. This track was the old way of jazz influenced even the words just skip a doo throughout the song almost like a rhyme. And with a pleasent guitar riffs just make it, a hidden gem even now. He definitely a very cool cat. R.I.P.
