Microsoft should never had touch Rare... Rare was more family friendly, Microsoft was for the more hardcore gamers no way it should hy turn out the way they did.

Fun fact: the game is named "Re-volt." It is a 1999 game made by Acclaim. It had a prototype to the xbox original but was canceled,and the last build was made in 2002

Wow I visited this place when over in Australia from NZ in 1999 (or maybe it was early in 2000), at just 9 or 10 years old. Me and my Dad were in Cowra for my Auntie and Uncle's wedding, and we took a small (under 10 seats) plane over the Blue Mountains back to Sydney and spent the day there until we had to fly back to NZ. I remember everything shown in this vid, and yesterday I found a photo of me posing with the Sonic and ( I had to look it up) I think Sally statues, with me wearing an Ash Ketchum Pokemon hat that we spent hours searching for. Wonderful memories of an awesome place and time in my life. Thanks Dad.

One of my hottest takes in gaming: This was a good idea. Without it, Stop n Swap wouldve never made it to the Banjo games; the Banjo games, Goldeneye, and Perfect Dark wouldve never received good remasters, Killer Instinct and Battletoads would be dead, Rare Replay and Sea of Theives wouldnt exist, Nintendo wouldnt have given DK to Retro (who, imo, did a better job), and we would be stuck with endless DKC, Banjo, and (censored) Conker, and nothing else. Ponder that.

I see too much people saying Microsoft ruined rare, but honestly, rare has no one to blame but themselves. They were on the verge of bankruptcy and Nintendo wanted nothing to do with them. Even if Activision bought them remember Microsoft bought them too (they were also an incompetent company already) so they were gonna buy rare no matter what. Rare could still make the games they want any time, but rarely ever do (no pun intended). Just because Microsoft bought them doesn’t mean they ruined them. Conker had many poor design decisions itself and that was before Microsoft bought it. Rare is a company too and it’s their own fault. I used to think Microsoft killed them too until I did research. No sympathy for them, they did this to themselves. I feel like people just feel too bad for them to blame them but I just don’t (anymore). I’m getting tired of blaming mergers most of the time for downfalls of stuff (not saying it’s not true, it can, but still). Simpsons was already dying WAY before Disney bought fox, Mojang was dying before Microsoft bought them, angry birds was dying before sega bought them, etc.

I will say this: that purchase gave us the N64 Rare remasters, the return of Killer Instinct and Battletoads, Rare Replay, and Sea of Thieves.
