Two reasons I use a second monitor. 1). As an instructor I can manage my Zoom class, answer students questions, and and view chats on one monitor while using the other monitor to research stuff or look at other things that don't need to be seen by the students or would cover the class screen. 2). As a student I can do labs a lot easier. I can have the lab text and step-by-step on one monitor while I have the lab topology and machine configurations on the second monitor. At least dual monitors is the way to go whenever you can.

This is a really old video, so I'm not sure how it got recommended, but I do want to point out that both RAID 5 and RAID 6 have a HUGE write penalty. You absolutely do not get a write performance increase at these levels as stated in the video. You are absolutely correct about the obsolescence of RAID5, however. And even RAID6 is becoming a problem with the massive increase in array sizrs, especially since modern RAID cards don't even monitor for bit rot.

Haha a lesson you learned. Bitwarden or KeepassXC will do the work ,and use 2FA ,but this was written aeons ago ,so now it is biometrics. But also FILE VAULT you could enabled for 8 years ago ,probably you did not. Use Mailfence ,Protonmail or some other strong epost provider. But Apple is wery strong also ,if you just encrypt your computer with File Vault or Advanced Data Protection.

Of course backups are a must unless you enjoy playing Russian roulette. As a former network administrator, over 20 years, we had 4 drive failures in a raid 5 setup. Luckily, we never had a problem with an URE. But if we had, are drives were backed up to tape drive and other hard drives. URE's are probably rare, but when they happen, it can be disastrous. Will the average home user have a failed drive in their raid 5 and a URE? Probably not, but is it worth taking the chance over.
