My goal with practice is to be as consistent as possible, sometimes I can practice hours, other days minutes. These days as a new father I’m lucky if I get 1 hour. Keeping a practice journal has been helpful in general

Sometimes I pause practicing for a week. When I pick up my instrument, I play without missing a beat. You have to rest to allow what you practice to germinate.

Incredible sound from that Eastman semi. I have an AR805ce and El Rey ER4. With an Evans RE200 . . . sounds even more incredible!

The most practicing I did was about 3 straight hours daily after dinner when I was like 14 years old. But not every day. Those were the days! I had lots to practice. I would work through the Berklee books vol 1 & 2, and also Aaron Sheers classical books and RMC books. When you're older or more experienced it's just as important to spend time every week playing with other people, if you can.

I’m also in S. Ont and saw Ed live many times. Subtle and sublime; his comping and lines. Dunno if u r from Canada, but check out Reg Schwager. He was Ed’s first call and another monster guitarist/musician. ✌️

Thank you! This guitar is 100% custom from Denny Kopp made for me this year - he has an awesome style of adding "'doodads" as we call them onto the guitar all over...it's his nifty way of putting a 12th fret marker :)

How can I improve on transcribing chords? I’m currently transcribing Bickert’s Have you met Miss jones and struggle hearing complex chords that last half a second
@zakkjonesАй бұрын
Transcribe the top note of each voicing - if anything that will give you a pretty fantastic line that you can harmonize with your own voicings. As far as getting everything - there is a beautiful logic to Ed's voice leading. Transcribe something slower or more exposed like one of his many solo guitar intros or intimate duo recordings

This is amazing - so beautifully played. I find this waltz a really overlooked composition in the "Peanuts Canon," behind more familiar songs like "Linus and Lucy" and the Christmas songs. But it's surely one of Guaraldi's finest pieces, and most evocative. Thank you for sharing!
