Well put! The problem: "Publicly funded program are siloed driven and siloed money, where you have a box of money that can pay for this box of services, and we tend to respond to the boxes, as oppose to responding to people." This is still true for many agencies in Oakland, CA; at least, the one's Ive worked for.

The comments below are indicators of a world that needs to change. Whether he cheated or not, emotionally abusive comments are not justified. Marathons don’t take a higher higher stance than human decency and treatment towards each other; and that’s coming from being a runner myself, including a full marathon. Life is fragile. Be kind.

@@chrisdriver7776 If it had to do with something with his medical career, I could kinda see. But this is a marathon....he's already a retired older man. Yes, disqualifying him is what needed to be done, and he should have just humbly apologized and moved on. What happened was the internet mob attacked him with no mercy...he should have not even paid attention. Man, people make stupid mistakes, but don't unnecessarily crucify them for it. It was a fuckin marathon, not a heart transplant he was doing.

This man was a fraud. He sentenced my grandfather to death when we took my grandpa in for disoriented mental state as well as confusion when Dr Meza was working for a well known HMO. As we sat in the exam room, Dr Meza explained he would have to make the exam quick being that he had a track meet to attend at a local high school. The visit with my grandpa lasted less that 8 minutes where we were told my grandpa needed to learn how to eat correctly as being he was Diabetic type 2, the good doctor, and I say that in sarcasm, referred my grandpa to diabetic nutrition class. My mom and grandma tried to explain that my grandpa's sugar values were in the normal range, but the cheating marathoner would not listen. Needless to say, my grandpa suffered a major stroke less than 10 days later that left him gravely disabled for the next 10 years to which he succumed. . In retrospect, my grandpa was probably experiencing a TIA (mini-stroke), but the good doctor could not be bothered being that he was going to be late for the high school track meet of which he was a mentor and coach. May he rest in peace and God will judge him for his arrogance. This is what happens when you have doctors who were given breaks in medical education by Affirmative Action and NOT merit. God is good and I only hope his stint in Purgatory will be running a non-stop marathon until God sees fit to end the completion with no cheating!

Proof from 1991??? He was at KP on Telford in ELA. He was an arrogant POS who thought he could step all over his patients. He deemed my grandpa "non-compliant" in his own care regarding his DM2. All this arrogant, narcissistic PO crap had to do was immediately send the patient to KP Sunset. I am sure he is paying for all his transgressions now. Like I said, he is now running and endless marathon, no cheating allowed.

I've found most doctors are unable to diagnose a patient and have very limited knowledge even within their own specialty. The only help I've ever gotten was from a physical therapist (most of them suck, too, btw, but this one was actually passionate about what she did which is difficult to find). Chances are another doctor would have misdiagnosed the grandfather, as well, sorry to say.

Will Native American's help someone who isn't? I am Greek and Italian. I have no ties to the genocide except that I live in the US because my family immigrated here in the 1900's. My boyfriend is 75% Yaqui Indian. I am bipolar and more interested in the Native way than the "traditional" way. I am afraid to ask for help from Natives because I feel like I don't have the right to

Nicole, You must ask for help!!! If the medicine man or woman are doing as the Great Spirit has instructed them; they will guide you. If you must go to a different tribe to seek help, do so!!!! You may not be a part (blood wise) of the tribe, but you are with your boyfriend, you are a part of his family, his culture. Speak with his mother or one of his aunts. The People are a Matriotic Society. So whenever there was an issue within the family, usually the mother or aunts, even grandmothere's are or were consulted. David Swallow is a Lakota medicine man. He is very wise and knowledgeable. Then there is Ms.Lou; is a part of the Eastern Cherokee tribe in North Carolina. She could inform you of somebody in that area that can help. We'll be praying for you and may you're endeavors and well.
