As a White Sox fan, I have to admit I’ve watched this beautiful series more than probably anyone in history. It just amazes me at the time we thought the Marlins were this no good team, but now when you look at that squad, they were deep.

Both 1997 and 2003 Marlins were stacked. Jeff Conine was part of both teams. He’s known as “Mr. Marlin”.

Kenny lofton was just one of those guys that was a glue for good teams. If I had a good team but couldn’t get over the hump I’ Always believed kenny lofton was the guy you go get. What’s insane is he never won a championship. He was on so many great teams that just couldn’t win it all.

Kenny lofton was one of the unluckiest players in league history: Lost in the 95 World Series Lost in the 98 Alcs Lost a 2-0 lead in the 99 Alds Lost a 2-1 lead in the 01 Alds vs the 116 win mariners Lost the 02 World Series when the giants were up 5-0 in game 6 up 3-2 in the series Lost the 03 NLCS, cubs blow a 3-1 lead Lost in the 04 Alcs, Yankees blew a 3-0 lead to Boston Lost in the 07 Alcs with the Indians, blew a 3-1 lead to the Red Sox

Yep, I just noticed that Lofton was the last out. As a Tribe fan, I loved Lofton-- great player (and, as far as I can tell, a classy one, too). Bummer that he came so close so many times (including on absolutely STACKED Indians teams, especially 1995), but never got the Title. Bummer too that he was not considered more seriously for the HOF (having watched him closely over many seasons following the Indians, I think he's HOF material).
@AMDG_JMJ5 ай бұрын
And, I was at Game 4 of that ALDS between the Tribe and the 116-win M's. Tribe was leading in the 8th and then it appeared the ump squeezed his zone on the Tribe helping the M's to come back and win that game (and then they won game 5, too). Real bummer for Indians fans (the last year in that particular era of Indians dominance in the AL Central between 1994-2001, after 35 years of futility before that-- futility that was SO bad they made comedic movies about the Indians prior to those 1994-2001 Tribe).
@stevenstocker74254 ай бұрын
@@AMDG_JMJ maybe the tribe will win it all this year. It would be cool to see Cleveland celebrate more than one championship in a 60 year span. If the browns ever win the Super Bowl, and that’s a big if, that city will sink into the Ohio river.

@stevenstocker7425 Dang right about all that, man! That's why it would have been SO cool if, after 52 years of no titles in any sport, Cleveland had gotten TWO in 2016 (that ALMOST happened)! Tribe has been consistently competitive since the 90s (after 3.5 decades of futility prior to the 90s, as documented by the "Major League" movie), the Browns are improving, and the Cavs are good. We'll see! Yes, if Browns ever win it all, the city would explode-- no atomic bomb would compare.

White Sox just were one step ahead of them. This series shouldn't had been a sweep. All four games were close. Both teams were evenly matched but the White Sox had slightly better lineup and more situational hitting with how deep their lineup and roster was. That 2005 White Sox team was hungry for a World Series title in 88 years. I remember this World Series. They were too deep and very good core of talented players that were goof at what they did. This series should have went 7 games but this all came down to situational hitting and White Sox excelled while their rotation and lineup was too deep. White Sox had a complete team from 1 to 25.

@@Melbester9 keep in mind, the white Sox cheated in this World Series (legally)
@Melbester94 ай бұрын
@thepoisonouspotato3631 How? I don't remember them cheating in World Series at all. Don't forget that 2005 ALCS Game 2 vs Angels when Pryrzinski was struck out by Kelvim Escobar and umpires didn't call a strikeout as he ran to first base as a strike out passed ball for last out of 9th. Game would have went to extra innings and Angels ended up losing to Crede double in 9th. That changed the whole series and White Sox went 4-1 to win ALCS. That strikeout passed ball call on HP Umpire changed the Angels momentum that series. Would have been 2-0 LAA lead. Instead rhe White Sox tied the series at 1-1 and won next 3 in Anaheim. White Sox had a deep team. Podsesnik was a great base stealer. They had veteran Jermaine Dye from 1996 Braves in WS. It was his second WS appearance. They had Buehrle their ace who had a great career with White Sox with perfect game and 200+ wins. You also had deep well rounded power lineup with HOF Frank Thomas & Paul Konerko & Juan Uribe. Tadahito Iguchi from Japan at 2B and Aaron Rowand with AJ Pyrzinski & Carl Everett. Plus Bobby Jenks was a beast at closer that threw gas fast balls like Mason Miller of Oakland As today. Decent bullpen with Cotts and other relievers and they had El Duque Orlando Hernandez.

@@Melbester9 yeah I know what happened in ALCS game 2, basically the white Sox knew the Astros signs, they just somehow figured out their signs and used it against them, so they legally stole the signs, it’s only illegal if there is electronic assistance being used
