if thats a load bearing wall there should be a header above the door . is the wall supporting the floor cant tell from picture. usually the floor sits on the outside walls and a center wall most other walls in basement would not be load bearing

Josh I’m sure you will get many answers. I have done this scope of work for many years. If I were to come in on this job. I would insist on replacing your current beam with a couple LVL beams. Probably with two or three 8” or 10” beams. If it has more than one roof load I’d probably go with three. As for the other wall I would go to the right of the old ductwork. I would locate to basement floor a path to the future beam. Add lumber to make that happen. Inside the wall to the left of opening recess a 2x4 usually doubled up. Another LVL 2 of them are the width of stud. Now while doing any of this you would need to build supporting walls under both sides of future beam. You can recess the beam and all that but would have to get engineered roof estimates before any contractor with a reputation would touch. Good luck my friend.

That is a load bearing wall you need to put in temporary support to remove the studs and install a microlam header. I cant tell you about the codes in Michigan but thats what i would do

Yes you would have to build it exactly the same and no you can't take out the other beam unless you want the house to collapse in on itself

If your going to remove that many studs i would 100% put a header especially if those studs you are removing are bearing alot of weight.

As for my comments they just seemed to be oblivious to the red light and on coming traffic. Unfortunately on a left hand turn (that you know takes out motorcycle riders (thank God one wasn't involved here). The cars bumper was left behind. When the state police arrived I was questioned about my memory of the events (if the left turn lane had a red light or not) because "human memory fails us". Thankfully I had this dash cam for proof in order to help the innocent drivers. I did not get an update on if they every found the suspect.

An interesting fact is that they're not playing. They actually "faint"/go into shock or something like that (too early in the morning for me to look up the term). The heart rate slows down, the body releases a stench and other things to make it seem as if they're dead. I've never understood how this defense mechanism works, because I would think that a lot of predators would just eat it as "free food". Cool video. 💖
@pawwalker3492
@pawwalker3492 Жыл бұрын
Right! They become _catatonic,_ and can stay that way for quite a while. I'm sure there's been instances when a predator DOES snatch the "body", but usually this works in the possum's favor 😍

Playing possum isn’t an act; it’s an involuntary reaction to a threat. Its body enters a catatonic state in response to fear. I was going into our garage one night and this little possum was just coming out. I scared the poor thing so bad, it took a few wobbly step and fell right over. Released its stinky gland - the works. Stayed that way for over a half hour, poor thing. Possums are really cute and very good to have around - they rarely contract rabies, and eat TICKS!!! I give them biscotti smeared with peanut butter ❣

I don't own a Hogue but I do own the Drop Bear and it's a great knife. They do a very good job on the cross bar lock. Better action and lock up than the few Benchmade axis lock knives I own. Great fit and finish and that blade shape is a work horse. I had problems with a button lock by Kizer, my own fault btw, and Justin at WMK contacted Kizer for me and the promptly sent me a new button and spring free of charge. That was impressive service for a Chinese company and made me a lifelong customer.

NIce commentary on these two brands, John. I have knives of both brands, though not these particular models, and can say that both the Kizer Mini-Sheepdog and the Hogue Exemplar are, for my purposes, very high-quality, robust EDCs. The similarity of the Exemplar to the Sig that I can see is the "rough" textured Axis Lock, which is my only minor gripe on the Exemplar. Though the solid G10 scales are relatively lightweight, when compared to other stainless steel liner models, it still feels quite solid and robust in hand, and its Axis lock seems to work smoothly. The Kizer Mini-Sheepdog is a small knife, but very high-quality as well. The brushed aluminum scales also have that "velvety" feel, with indentationsto add more grip. Thank you.

Honestly, I switched up to a crossbow but will definitely use it if it's legal. I need to look more into the laws because it has a laser that is used to "zero" it in, but "could" be used to hunt with I suppose. I'm not well versed enough to be confident with using it. But, in theory, I love it for it's intended purpose. Sorry for not responding sooner, I must not have comment notification turned on...
