It’s amazing that she ever showed her face in public again after this. But she’s been such a fame-chasing tramp since her Kenickie days, she just can’t help herself. So it’s difficult to have any sympathy for her humiliation here.

MES responding to the "you changed my life" line was actually fairly tender for him. I'll always feel bad for comments I made to friends at my last Fall show. He was shockingly bad. Didn't know he was sick.

CUNZ MES and the Fall are not a feature, they can not be described, introduced or 'contextualised'. You had to be there. Deal with it.

Was he confusing Lauren with Jo Whiley here, who famously interviewed him at the 1997 NME Brat awards?

Love both of these people. I think they both must have felt very uncomfortable in this setting surrounded by a predominately young audience. I've seen Lauren talk with Frank Skinner saying he didn't take to her at all but she and Frank were in different surroundings when they interviewed him. I was very nervous when I got to speak to Lauren about music once on 6Music and she really put me at ease. Beautiful person! As for Mark, his absence is deeply felt. That catalogue he left us though is remarkable.

There is nothing working class about him, he was lower middle and went to decent schools and did O levels. That is all good. The point never made is all the big English bands were upper middle class, in the case of Genesis upper class.
