I've listened to this song several times over the years, but in 2010 this song took on a whole different meaning for me. I lost my wife in 2010, that's when this song took on a whole different meaning for me. Those words, You don't know about lonely, really hit you. Vern was pure country.

Vern came to Albuquerque years ago, and during a break I had the good fortune to meet his steel guitar player. As a steel player myself he was kind enough to take me on the stage and show me the licks to Set um Up Joe. How cool can it get……. Best memory ever..

By far the number one tearjerker of all time he sang happy birthday to me on my 21st birthday in Charlotte North Carolina. I’ll never forget that moment 🎉… most underrated singer of all time also. Period rest in peace, my brother from another beautiful mother.
