in case you want to sing a long, and get the chorus right Another day I call and never speak And you would say Nothing's changed at all And I can't feel much hope for anything If I won't be there to catch you if you fall . Again (again we fail) It seems we meet (to meet and mend) In the spaces (spaces safe) In between (in between intent) We always say (always say too much) It won't be long (long been gone) Oh, but something's always wrong . Another game of putting things aside As if we'll come back to them sometime A brace of hope a pride of innocence And you would say Something has gone wrong . Again (again we fail) It seems we meet (to make amends) In the spaces (went our way) In between (in between each end) We always say (lookin' back) It won't be long (not moving on) Mmm, but something's always wrong . And again (again we fail) It seems we meet (to make amends) In the spaces (spaces safe) In between (in between intent) We always say (always say too much) It won't be long (long been gone) Oh, but something's always wrong Something's always wrong Something's always wrong . Again Again Again Again

Seems like nobody recognized the song from the first few chords, which was little surprising. But then I thought, if everybody started cheering in recognition, I'd probably be making a comment saying "I'm surprised the crowd recognized Jason Molina's chords".

I went down to the gas station For no particular reason Heard the screams from the high school It's football season Empty lot the station faces Will probably be there forever I climbed over the four foot fence I was trying to sever the tether Moon in the sky Cold as a stone Spend each night in your arms Always wake up alone I lay down in the weeds It was a real cold night I was happy 'til the overnight attendant Switched on the floodlight Walking home I was talking to you under my breath Saying things that I would never say directly Heard a siren on the highway up ahead Kinda wished they'd come and get me Frost on the sidewalk White as a bone Spend all night trying to chase the feeling down Always wake up alone And as I was crossing our doorstep I hesitated just a moment there Remember the day we moved in to our small house? 'Til the vision got too vivid to bear You were nearly asleep Halfway undressed I lay my worthless body down right next to yours Held your head against my chest And a guy with any kind of courage That guy would maybe stop to think the matter through Maybe hold your shoulders down and raise the question Instead of blindly holding onto you But we crank up the heat And you giggle and moan Spend all night - every night - in the company of ghosts Always wake up alone

One of my all time favourites. I can't believe how recent this is... If I was in the front I would be creaming the lyrics along with him. He looks like he was thinking about going really hard but I guess its a different energy in the room that night perhaps. Looks amazing

I am usually very skeptical of cover versions of classics, but Glen Hansard could not have done a better job of honoring Jason Molina's memory. WOW!

Once a week I make the drive two hours east to check the Austin post office box And I take the detour through our old neighborhood See all the Chevy Impalas in their front yards up on blocks And I park in THE alley WHERE I PICK through the postcards you continue to send Where as indirectly as you can You ask what I remember I like these torture devices from my old best friend Well, I'll tell you what I know like I swore I always would I don't think it's going to do you any good I remember the train headed south out of Bangkok Down toward the water I always get a late start when the sun's going down and the traffic's thinning out and the AIR is hard to take I wish the West Texas Highway was a Möbius strip I could ride it out forever when I feel my heart break YOU KNOW I swear I CAN hear it happen It's that CLEAN and that hard I come in off the highway and I park in my front yard I fall out of the car like a hostage from a plane Think of you a while I start wishing it would rain And I remember the train headed south out of Bangkok Down toward the water I come in to the house I put on a pot of coffee AND THEN I walk the floors a little while I set your postcard on the table with all the others JUST like it I start PICKING through the pile I check the pictures and the ADDRESS and the captions and the stamps for signs of any pattern at all When I come up empty-handed the feeling almost overwhelms me I let a few of my defenses fall And I smile a bitter smile It's not a pretty SIGHT to see I think about a railroad platform back in 1983 And I remember the train headed south out of Bangkok Down, down toward the water

The story of the pigs who ran straightaway into the water and their great triumph: You're gonna send me back to where I came from Please don't send me back to where I came from Let me go where the white magnolias grow You're gonna fit me for that orange jumpsuit Please don't fit me for that orange jumpsuit Let me ride where the dragonflies glide Yeah but you're going to do what you wanna do No matter what I ask of you You think you hold the high hand I've got my doubts I come from Chino where the asphalt sprouts Big bus headed southeast from the courthouse But I'm not headed southeast from the courthouse Let some mysterious chunk of space debris Puncture the roof and set me free And even if I have to go to Claremont Well I guess I'll just have to go to Claremont Let me go Let me lie low Yeah but you're going to do what you wanna do No matter what I ask of you And you send your dark messengers to tempt me I come from Chino, so all your threats are empty

My hand brushes against the lock of hair that hangs down past your ear to your jaw My hand brushes against the lock of hair that hangs down past your ear to your jaw It's real neat, the moment's sweet, but it's all wrong And we're pictures of decency when we wave goodbye outside We're pictures of decency when we wave goodbye outside Yes, I am the model of composure out there But you ought to see me shaking later on My head gets flooded over six hours later My head gets flooded over six hours later And the rivers run with pictures of you as I stare up at the blood red moon Lying out front on the lawn, hey hey

You were all were dressed in green Clouds bounced against the edges of the sky You had the prettiest hair I'd ever seen We saw the world passing by There was an ocean's droning Though we were nowhere near the shore We heard each other giggling and moaning Then we couldn't hear each other any more yeah When my head was resting on your breastbone I could hear your beating heart 24 hours later you had left me completely alone I heard the whole world come apart And you were all dressed in green Rising in the sky was an unfamiliar star You know, you know what I mean Yeah I remember who you are
