The alignment of video and audio is terrible. You can see the singer's mouth moving well after audio has finished his words. I'm sharing this video with friends as the _music_ is amazing in spite of cracks and pops as if from an old 78 rpm record. I'm trying to explain how European and American song traditions have diverged so much.

Hampson is superb. There are many fine and not so fine renditions of the Kindertotenlieder, yet this is one of the very best, though my personal favorite is a 1928 recording by Heinrich Rehkemper with Jasha Horenstein and the Berlin State Opera orchestra which is also on KZbin. I believe it is also the same recording that was used by the great choreographer Anthony Tudor for his classic ballet "Dark Elegies".
