I have been on statins for several years. The only side effect I think I have is elevated AiC. I am now at 5.7. I am 82 and my dr wants me to stay on statins simply because of my age. My cholesterol numbers numbers are fantastic--Total is 162, LDL is 86 and Triglycerides 64. I had an ApoB test done on my own at it was 81. I am in a healthy weight range, I work out regularly and eat a low carb, no sugar diet. I stopped what was only moderate drinking. I have never had any sign of heart disease. I am almost 100% certain that there is no benefit to taking statins and I am not happy with my A1c numbers going up. So my rational mind and my fear are at war.

Really appreciate your comment on early adoption, it adds a lot more trust into the information provided and the honesty around where the research is up to even with very positive initial results. Im a 36yr old diabetic with slightly raised ldl levels which through diet and exercise has reduced that almost by 20% (i run marathons and gym regularly) however he is looking to get me into repatha and im trying to understand more about the medication before i commit. Thanks for the video!

Dr. Elizabeth Klodas is in fact a practicing cardiologist. If you are interested in reading further, here is a link to view details of the peer reviewed study of Step One Foods in The Journal of Nutrition: bit.ly/3RO3VQh Dr. Klodas prescribes medications when determined to be necessary for the patient, however, through Step One Foods she has contributed to proving that many people are able to control high cholesterol levels through food intervention and a diet of the right foods.

What are plant sterols?
@StepOneFoods8 ай бұрын
Plant sterols are compounds found only in plant-based foods and resemble the molecular structure of cholesterol. Unlike cholesterol, plant sterols are not easily absorbed by the body. But because they are similar in structure, plant sterols can block regular cholesterol absorption. You can read up more on our blog post here: www.steponefoods.com/blogs/news/why-plant-sterols

You are absolutely correct about the first recommendation from one's PCP. Several years ago, at age 50 I had my annual physical which resulted in my doctor recommending statins. He wasn't wrong, but I refused. My weight was 245, my total cholesterol was 255. I told him I want to take 6 months to improve my health, if I didn't, I would take the statins. I lost 25 pounds, my total cholesterol went down to 205. He was surprised and told me most people don't have the discipline to do that. Fruits, veggies and eliminate junk food. It works.

I am 33 years old and no smoke and drink but my LDL 205 ; tri 108; Total cholesterol 298 . Should i take statin or change lifestyle?
@StepOneFoods11 ай бұрын
We never advocate that you stop or modify your medication regimen on your own. Always consult your doctor before making any changes to your medication dose. However, some people steer clear of cholesterol medications altogether for a variety of reasons. Recognizing that this leaves many individuals at persistently increased risk of heart disease, the American College of Cardiology recently published an Expert Consensus document that advocates ensuring strategic dietary change (including adequate intake of fiber and plant sterols) as a cornerstone of cholesterol management. Step One Foods were formulated specifically to address this recommendation.

Ok, as someone who has actually researched this topic you are misinforming your viewers. For starters, Statins are garbage (dig into the science for yourself I’m not going to waste my time explaining it here. Many have debunked these products thoroughly…). And you completely omitted any discussion of vitamin K2. That’s K2 not K1. K2 most often comes from animal fats not plants although the highest source of all is Nattokinase. Just read the scientific paper showing a 36% reduction in plaque in a year with “Nattokinase” supplements. Do your own research don’t listen to one source on anything. There is plenty of good info out there you can verify. Statins? LOL. These cause heart calcification for F’s sake. 😡

I'm petrified bcause I know that level is too bad and he is in risk to have bad other diseases. Is that level treatable?

Hi and thank you for your question. For some customers, they simply have our products as a snack throughout the day. So a midday and evening snack option. For others, they have the Step One oatmeal, pancake or smoothie mix for breakfast and then a snack bar for lunch. The good thing is that all of our food products are equivalent in terms of providing clinically meaningful amounts of whole food fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and plant sterols.The products will provide the same results and are interchangeable in terms of their nutritional value.
