I’m big lover of real soft rock from the 70s-80s, but one thing I hate is when people attempt to revive old styles of music and purposely make the recording itself sound “old” by faking it with old sounding, yet still very digital effects. Things like analog tape plugins and fake virtual analog compressors and shit like that. And this song is a victim of that in my opinion. The mix is not good at all. The vocals are too compressed and distant sounding and they don’t sound like they’re forefront with the rest of the music. And there’s way too much reverb. Songs of this era didn’t use much reverb. It was all about that sharp and punchy air tight sound. I prefer when artists take something from the past and create a new, modern mutation of it instead of just directly copying songs from previous eras.
