If my memory serves me well, the Dutch were good at building sea defences. look towards their methods to fight the sea erosion.

The east coast is shrinking..the west coast is growing bigger..a train track built 150 years ago on the seafront in Wales is now a mile from the sea.

Awaken! The sea is not "cruel" as it is simply the sea. We invaded the turf of the sea when we built structures where we did. Deal with reality and get on with things. You are having setbacks and this is NOT the end. Best of luck to all of us!

No pensaba que eran tan tontos los ingleses al construir tan cerca del mar y mas viendo a las claras que eso son "dunas" es decir terreno "natural " del mar, que mas pronto que tarde volvera a ocupar.

What officials signed off for homes to be built on a dune?!? What idiots!!!
@Kernewik1013 жыл бұрын
Building on sand dunes always means a short life-span for any building..tragic for home owners and community. Government won't fund it, nothing will hold the sea back for long...and they would need to protect hundreds of miles of coastline. Its not just one short bit of coast affected...its only going to get worse if developers keep building them, and planners approve them. Perhaps home-owners could get together and sue the council planning dept for allowing buildings/homes on sand dunes?......

They should have never been allowed to build on sand. No permits should have ever been issued for structures to be built on dunes. I'm surprized an insurance company would insure these homes or pay when destroyed by ocean surge. Maybe they didn't pay. Hmmmmm.

Damn. They needed a lot more than just those white plastic circles holding gravel? sand? Preferably, they'd need a bunch of large boulders stacked long, wide & high along the hillside, with a retaining wall of reinforced concrete, too. And they'd need to cover the entire length of the hillside, not just what's in front of their houses.
