Hi! We don't have any immediate plans to introduce a DD Tarp 3.5x3.5 - PRO - MC to the range but I will certainly pass this onto the design team as something you'd like to see. We never like to say never at DD! Best regards, Caroline - DD Hammocks

Don't believe the reviews,I fell for it! I have a lot of this company products. But never again! This company won't even repair the equipment they sell. Even though the web page says they do. Good luck.

Do not believe these reviews! I have a lot of this company products. Because I believe the reviews. I needed some repair work done,you can look, company claims to. But I was told to just put some sticky tape on a hundred dollar hammock. Bug net is unraveling. Grandson covered in bites! Buyer beware.

Hi Glen, we're sorry to hear that you're dissatisfied with your gear. As we have mentioned in our conversations, we are always happy to help and look at issues further, however at the time being with the information you have provided us via email we were unable to deem the issue a manufacturing fault. We would certainly be happy to look at this further should you like to provide any additional information about your purchase via email. Kind regards - Vikki, DD Hammocks

Dear DD! If there are no trees nearby and I want to use it as a tent, (+ tarp of course) how waterproof is the bottom of it? Is it as good as the DD Travel bivi?
@ddhammocks2418
@ddhammocks2418 3 ай бұрын
Hi there! The base layer of the hammock isn't waterproof so we would recommend using a groundsheet or similar underneath if you wanted to use this as a bivi :-) Hope this helps! Best, Caroline - DD Hammocks

@@RoughWalkers For any hammock to be completely covered and weatherproof we would recommend a suitable tarp - for the time being the XL Frontline does not have a separate cover. We hope this helps to explain!

Hold the two oposite sides or the ridge line with one hand, hold the middle loop with the other hand. And voilà, it is now a 1.5 meters square. This works even with big tarps, i do this by attaching a carabineer to a tree, to hold the two opposites of the ridge line when i am working with my dd xl or 3.5 by 3.5 that are huge. Drying them at home is another story...

Is the whole thing waterproof? Top and bottom?
@ddhammocks2418

Hi there! The DD Nest Hammock offers some cover from rain etc but is not waterproof due to the need to still be breathable. We always recommend adding a tarp overhead for weather and waterproofing :)

Why the ghastly velcro straps on the pouches/'action pack', DD Hammocks - whose bright idea was that? Would buy one of these in a heartbeat if it wasn't for that dreadful design decision (was on the verge of ordering, in fact, until I discovered this... 'feature'). If it's all molle compatible, why not just fit regular molle straps with poppers - and WITHOUT the velcro??!! Make a mk2 with this change, and you'd please a lot of people I'm sure.

Would be good if they had an option to hold it up using an external ridgeline between 2 trees instead of having to carry around 2 Trekking poles...

Hi! The DD XL Frontline Hammock is 3m x 1.8m, whereas the regular Frontline model is 2.7m x 1.4m. Our DD Tarp 3x3 would offer ample coverage for the regular Frontline; if you were looking for a tarp for the XL we would suggest our Tarp XL or Tarp 3.5m x 3.5m. I hope this helps! Best regards, Caroline - DD Hammocks

Just got mine 3 minutes ago. Gonna instal it right now…….update. It’s done. The double layered hammocks aren’t quite as easy to instal, but it wasn’t bad. One end though, it seemed that the pole and string seemed to get under a seam or something. Not sure, but it wouldn’t go through. I just took it out and went through the other way and it’s fine. Can’t wait to use them for a fall one week trip here in the Canadian bush!

It's very resistant, I used it not only as a carpet but also during holidays on the beach to set up "lean-to" shelters facing relatively strong winds (up to 27 km/hour) without any problem. Its anti-UV protection is not rated but I believe it's good. I have only one critic about the stuff sack which is too narrow and small, it's hard to simply stuff the tarp inside, so I replaced it by a more convenient sack.

This was really helpful! I’m a tenter on winter trips usually but I’m looking forward to getting my frontline out there in the snow once i get my dd underblanket! Out here in New England the public hiking areas have backcountry leanto camping sites with an outhouse and usually some hammocking/tenting spots as well. It’s nice because you can safely do some experimenting with different shelter systems to figure out what works and if it doesn’t work out you can duck into the leanto. 👍🏼. I loved your happy fire dance!! You seem like a cool dude to hang out with! Thank you and take care!!😊👍🏼 NQU

The design is simple/basic but also has enough attachments and loops to use a variety of setups for pitching and weather. Especially here in Australia where you can go from a freezing night, to a scorching day, then to an afternoon monsoon in a matter of hours. Most tents/shelters I have used so far suffer from being over specialised or trying to stand out with gimmicky designs that lead them to being extremely inflexible or just being rendered utterly useless if a single part breaks like those infuriating flex poles most tents these days have. Here if a pole breaks, or you lose it, just find a couple of branches or string a ridgeline.

I've tried to use other tarps, I always wind up coming back to the flexibility, space, ease of use and familiarity of my DD-3x3. It just does everything I need. I'll invest in a down sleeping bag in order to have space in my ruck for my DD-3x3.

I somehow screwed ropes when i was pulling, now i dont have that woopie sling ends and rings that hook to carabiners, i dont know how to get it into a default state. Do i need to order new woopie sling ropes or ? Is there tutorial how to unscrew woopie slings ?
@ddhammocks2418
@ddhammocks2418 Жыл бұрын
Hi there - if the Whoopie Slings have gone back into themselves this is very difficult to fix and it is likely they will need to be replaced; you can try using a small hook to re-thread these but often depending on how far the slings have fed back into themselves this could be a replacement issue. If you have any additional questions please send a couple of photos along to our sales email and a member of customer service will help as best as they can :)

I have a 4.5x5.5 Tarp by Hikeman and it definitely doesn't have enough attachment points! Gotta wonder how you can use it when they come this large without enough rings for pegs and poles! Also please note, any Tarp bigger than a 3x3 begins to act like a sail or kite in the wind, it does want to take off when you're putting it up!
