The more (trustworthy) people you add to your plan, the cheaper your portion will be. So my entire family is on T-Mobile under my military Magenta plan and we pay $110 for 5 lines but my portion is only $22.

Just came across your videos. I work in education as well (certificated). I am still confused as to how your salary was already at the adjusted increase if the bargaining team voted on the raise after you were hired? It is super impressive that the Supt. sat down with you and agreed for them to eat the cost of the overage but I don't see how it was an overage. Shouldn't you still get that raise?

Paused to comment. Sounds like they never inquired/verified prior to speaking with you if you were, in fact, a union member, thus the walk back. Which is what should have been done after discovering their error. So technically, as a non-member, you do receive representation, but the union rep only has to stay within scope. For non union members, I always refer them to the state labor relations number for directions.

Whew! I’m so happy that the superintendent was able to break everything down, acknowledge the wrong doing, and then rectify it because most school districts would have not done it. Your story is one of the reasons why I got tired of working in education. You have these people sitting at the district office and they have no clue what they’re doing. And that clearly showed in your situation because they showed up to your meeting unprepared and thought that you didn’t know what you were talking about. One thing about it, teachers KNOW their contracts like the back of their hands!

At your age, I would be looking for a new job in the district or county so that you keep your retirement benefits. If you are not worried about your retirement, I would bounce to a job that pays more. I took a severe pay cut and demotion as a federal employee. I had 10 years to retirement so I stayed. I am now retired with a pension. It sucked to stay there but I was deeper into my retirement plan that you are. At your age, go where you are valued

If you have a union, get a union rep. You have documentation showing what your pay is. If there has been an adjustment to your pay you should’ve received it at that time. Not after they made a mistake. If needed go ahead and step further and get a EEO rep. Praying it works out for you, god got you. ❤

Boost/Sprint was bought by T-Mobile. I like Boost too. Just be aware of what phone you choose to get when it's time to change phones in a year or two. The $25 a month isn't for all phones. With some phones they will require you to upgrade to the $60/mo plan. Also if you go in store sometimes you can get a better deal.

When was the new (union?) contract ratified? Was it before you signed your individual employment contract?
@IamNicoleJ4 ай бұрын
The new contract was ratified after signing my employment contract. The new contract was ratified in Jan 2024 and I signed in August 2023.

@IamNicoleJ find a copy of the old union contract and look at the payment schedule based on your position. I had this happen to me, but fortunately, they owed me instead of the other way around.

Friend, I literally only saw your channel yesterday for the first time with the March budget (loved it, by the way!). And now I’m seeing this, and I have words. Firstly - a contract, is a contract, is a contract. I work in education admin, with a union, and CBAs (in another state) and you need to engage your union rep. I’m also wanting you to read the ratified union contract to identify the timelines outlined there, as there are usually cutoff dates and clauses with additional stipulations that is written in fine print. AT THE LEAST - your district should have taken the L and honored the contract that was signed and agreed upon, if the situation is that you in fact do not qualify for retro pay. Their lack of acknowledgement of the error is a red flag. I’m mad for you.
@IamNicoleJ4 ай бұрын
I’ve reached out to the union about this matter.. Thank you for your advice❤

Exactly I agree as soon as my agency here in New York started acting up where some ppl got the retro and they was slow with my lil increase. I reread the contract, went straight to the union and documented everything. I'm so grateful for every dime because city bills is not for the weak.😅

As someone who use to work in education, I would highly suggest going to our union to discuss this matter because this should have been something that was communicated to you beforehand AND the business office should have caught this before it got to this point. You should not have to have your paychecks reduced because they "over calculated."

I would contact an employment attorney or call your local law board and see if they have any law firms that give pro bono advise in employment law. A contract is a contract. If the tables were turned they would have no problem going to legal.
