I have been designing my own 14m boat the designed utilizes 1/16 inch (1.5 mm) super duplex S32750 (2507) or hyper duplex 3207 stainless steel hull plates. I wanted an ultra strong, ultra light, ultra corrosion resistant hull, that I did not need to pain, and that would require minimal maintenance and the super duplex and hyper duplex stainless steels check all of those boxes.

One thing I'd like to know from people who sailed with this boat: is she a fun to steer?

I own a Puffin 42. i would say that she is good to steer, but one has to put a bit more effort to properly balance the sails. i guess she is "less forgiving" with unbalanced sails and can be a bit more stiff at the helm. going in reverse under engine is more difficult and similar to a large displacement full keel vessel. bow thrusters make it easier. or practicing the ability to perform pivot turn using the engine only in short bursts. those slight negatives are easily offset by the sea kindly motion and general comfort.

Despite all the design and custom-made labor, she will continue her life as a coastal sailboat, and according to the designer and builder this beauty will not have the honor of meeting the oceans.
