❤ I was a young foster parent and had sane experiences. It helped me grow knowledge n to love those who came from other foster or parents from hard situations. I ❤the time n treated them all as they were loved like my own. As taking out for dinner and going out to have fun like any other parents would do. As well used our own money to pay for more clothes and things they wanted. We listen to same music so we were the cool foster parents n had 3 yrs of best foster care parents of the year. It was the early 2000s, but I still stayed in touch with one of the foster kids, and she still calls me mama and name. It's a great thing by opening your house and loving them while teaching them. Yes, lots of paperwork n having time with patience. I would have family meetings once a week to let everyone and us being the foster parents talk openly to make sure they are OK or if anything we could help or let them have their opinions listened to. I then lived near Myrtle Beach SC. If I wanted to go shopping then I would ask who wants to go with. I'm a shopping person and they had things they needed but times I just would say what do you want n let's go get. With making sure they had structure n balanced lives n us there to show how we opening our home to them as like a family but treating them like one as however long some would come or go. I don't live in same state but can say SCYAP was great n SC state was involved too. The kids would have a chart to do small chores for teaching them to get guidance while they have stars on it n get something small or they can wait and collect at one time bigger the end of the month. Like taking shopping for something special or going on one on one somewhere fun or something they wanted. I miss it. It can be challenging but worth it cause they came a better person. Not every child was a fit due to the siblings or space you have in your house. I was thinking about doing it again cause I loved it.
