Interessant dat admiraal Tromp wordt genoemd . Hij leidde een militaire operatie in 1651 tegen de "Barbarijnse zeepiraterij" . Afrikaanse piraten die naar schatting 2 miljoen witten tot slaaf hebben gemaakt gedurende de trans-Atlantische slavenhandel . Het is geen detail in het verhaal van de toen heersende slavernij. Waarom wordt dit nooit verteld ?. Van de 500.000 slaven naar de nieuwe wereld gedeporteerd gedurende 1621-1795 door de WIC zijn in 1863 zo'n 40.000 verlost van de slavernij. Dit vergelijken met de 250.000 slachtoffers waaronder 100.000 Joodse Nederlanders en de 500.000 gedeporteerden dwangarbeiders , ach en maar 5 jaar 1940-45 ? De Hindoestaanse contract arbeiders die tot 1928 Britse onderdanen waren, de Buru's (blanken), Javanen, Chinezen werkten onder slechte omstandigheden maar deze waren beter dan die van mijn Nederlandse Opa blootgesteld aan kinderarbeid en verdere leven ook slechte omstandigheden niet vergeten de WO 1 en het concentratie kamp in de WO2 die hij heeft overleefd als ongeschoolde arbeider. Er was nog geen leerplicht in zijn jeugd. Toch tunnelvisie van deze zeer onderhoudende en boeiende historica McLeod , misschien wel een nazaat van de vele schotse huurlingen die stadshouder van Amsterdam , Utrecht en Vlissingen de hr. Oranje inzette tegen het geweld van de Marron , vrije mensen. Het verhaal van Elizabeth Samson een vrij zwarte vrouw die in de achttiende eeuw haar fortuin maakte met slavernij laat ook een heel ander historisch perspectief zien.

Jacco.....I'm so sad. This coming week, we should be going to NYC for the ballroom competition we dance in. Unfortunately, my wife had her right knee replaced in November and we won't be able to compete until later this year. This will be the first time in 7 years that we haven't gone. :( Thanks for having this video posted. Not only is Mr. Sinatra great....but your pictures are wonderful.
