This was great acting and is certainly a possibility. It's one of my all time favorite movies, I wish it had been longer. Fun facts for gun people - the Lt's gun is a S&W Model 28 "Highway Patrolman", the Winchester Model 1897 Shotgun Neopolian used in the one scene where he touches the barrel and shakes his hand, the actor actually did burn his hand on the barrel from the blanks. Older Model 1897's did have a design flaw, or advantage if you want to call it, where the shotgun can be "slam fired" as the actor was doing, to permit rapid fire. Carpenter decided to keep it in. Also, revolvers cannot be silenced (except the Nagant revolver due to its seal design) due to the gap between the barrel and the cylinder.

🌈🌈💕🩷🩵💘💞💚 🫠 When I watched this film in real time . I did have an absolutely existential crisis. Once again . When the kid lost the tether to the mothership. 🙄 A truly frightening experience. It was like the worst moment ever in a horror film. That was for kids.

I think I saw this on HBO when I returned to the States after my father was stationed in Italy. I was never really bullied, but I could relate to Clifford. This film gives me such an overwhelming feeling of nostalgia it almost hurts.

This movie is cast so well it’s just amazing. Every single actor was perfectly cast. The largest amount of likable characters in a movie, something almost unknown today. Ruth Gordon is amazing as usual. And Martin Mull! Great writing and direction. Still holds up perfectly after all these years.

At 44:42. The Canadian actors in this movie are everywhere. The father is played by an actor who was a TV series in Canada about investment bankers. The mother is played by the wife in King of Kensington, a CBC TV series which ran for 15 years in Canada.
