I find this funny other than disturbing.

I think its off a couple of years. I think it was 84 or 85. It was on a couple of channels in the evening. I just saw a little bit it was mostly static, and the sound was unintelligible. They showed it on the news, of course cutting out the ass spanking. The authorities were seriously looking for the people who did this for a few years. There were theories, either people in a broadcast satellite van nearby or in a building near the transmitter antenna. They probably caught them but never released it publicly.

I was stationed there in 75-76. I was a Navy Seabee. I wish they would have let me stay there my whole enlistment.

Was there from Nov67-May69. Base was very busy at the time with the VP squadrons and NavFac. I worked at the Communication Station out on the very end of the peninsula near the end of the main runway. Contaminants were being put into the ground almost since its inception in 1941 with all the aviation and shipping activity. Fuel, oil, hydraulic fluids. Then all the asbestos and other contaminants above ground. Don't know who the the tall shaggy haired guy was but he was being a pain in the ass with all his questions to someone who had no knowledge unfaultingly. . Probably a reporter or a politician. Didn't sound like a Newfy. The poor Ensign was just guiding them around and was getting bombarded with questions he knew nothing about. I have mixed emotions about my time there. It was very lonely being a young single enlisted man living in the barracks and my particular work schedule was brutal. There was absolutely nothing to do off base unless you went to St. Johns. Thank goodness for the Windjammer EM club. Lots of girls looking for a hookup back to the states but I was very young and wasn't ready for that quite yet. All in all I guess I wouldn't trade it but there definitely is better duty. The married guys liked it because it kept their families together but I found it somewhat depressing. The locals were nice but relied heavily on the base for employment since the decline of their fishing industry. I wanted to take a trip back up there after retiring but my wife has no interest whatsoever for some reason. She hates the cold.

If I had watched this back in the time I would be freaked out especially being alone. I would obviously think it’s a spy cam and called the police and tell them about the incident. This guy is lucky to have hacked into 2 different tv shows because this guy would’ve been arrested and gotten into so much trouble if this was in our generation.

Can you imagine being one of the 27 people in Chicago who were actually watching Doctor Who that night?
