I rode that train on Thursday June 13th this year ... don't know if it was the same day that you filmed this but #11 was on the train that I rode.

We were there in late May. It was an amazing trip as we had to climb out of a rain storm between Cass and Whittaker. We also stayed in one of the mill houses in the town of Cass that you can rent and then did the Greenbrier trip the next day. The houses are fun to stay in but kind of basic.

Do the add-ons make the girls’ train complete?
@GlennFresch2 жыл бұрын
@@harrystoller4147 I would say so. I’m not aware of any add on cars that were made later. The original set and add on cars appeared on the same catalog.

Wasn't there a pastel green all by itself in this set? Or did I just dream that? I collect S gauge so I'm probably way off base. I'm OK with that. Maybe I saw a train that someone had repainted in the colors that they wanted.
@GlennFresch2 жыл бұрын
This is the full set as shown in the MTH catalog plus the two add on cars also shown in the catalog. They also made a tinplate std gauge girls train, but I’m less familiar with it. These cars and engine were made in many paint schemes, but I can’t say what an all green one would be.

This Hudson was built in 1991. At that time, sound was not a major priority. The priority was quality of detail and construction. Would this new model match the original 1937-41 model in detail and, well, it easily did. Interesting note: The original Lionel Hudson tool and die were cut in Italy because at that time, the Italians were considered to be master tool and die makers. 63 years later, Lionel re0introduces the scale NYC Hudson but the original boiler dies were well worn and no longer acceptable so Lionel had a new boiler die made right here in the USA. There are a few differences around the cab window and if you want to get super picky, the new dies are more accurate than are the original. As for the tender, it comes from the same tender dies of the 1930's since the original tender was not manufactured so much as the boiler. If you look at the right, rear side of the tender you'll see a dent in the metal. This is not a damage spot, it is in the original dies that way. If you could compare your 1991 tender with a tender made in the 1930's you'd see this same dent. have a Hudson that was made in 1937 and when I got this model in 1991, the dent was obvious. The 1937 Hudson has die differences from the 1938 and later models due to the elimination of difficulties in casting. regardless of the now terrible sounds, this Hudson is a very fine model looking back to a long gone era.

I wonder why they did't just recreate the 700t tender with an air whistle. Personally that would seal the deal on this fine reproduction. Make it exactly how it was - no electronics. That said modifying to have the air whistle is not that hard to do 🙂
