The APA won't accept Ancona duck either, cause their natural spots will not conform to their liking. My Magpie ducks are louder than my Anconas.

Ancona ducks are dual purpose breed and are good mamas. I was actually surprised when my crested sat and hatched.

Thank you for commenting. Good question, but that is yes and a no. I have only one that is not Ancona. That is Daphne, she is Crested. I do not have a camera there as my trail camera died. lol I do not know who was being aggressive. Sadly, at this time, I do not have any place, I can move them and sometimes, if you move the nest, they will not lay anymore on the nest. That is what I have tried last year, but I was not expecting 4 broody mamas.

Thank you, so much. I love hatching duck eggs. The air sack should get bigger by the time, they are ready to hatch. I have had some that did not get really big until day 28 and they hatch by day 30ish. I don't remember if I said, they can hatch later. I am impatient person, lol so I am a hover mother until they hatch. I hope you have healthy ducklings! If the egg is bad, it will be a dark color and if you can not see any blood vessels.

It is rare, but can happen. I just wanted to share. They can die, if we can not get the vent back in. Does not help, they keep pushing it out. But when you find the right position, then your are good. Does not work like that for everyone, just my experience with it.
