Hi, I just come across your video. I’m 25 living alone and thinking about applying for university. I want to go about going to university but staying living at my own home. However, I’m worried about the cost side of things. I’m unsure that the maintenance loan won’t cover all my expenses. Is there any advice you could share?

Get rid of UCAT, applicants can learn how to pass this test and aside from SJT part is irrelevant. Dentistry is about communication & you need a personality, empathy to be able to deal with a range of people. Having common sense and being able to think on your feet. Too many students Faff !!. At the end of the day you have got to be able to diagnose & treatment plan, make decisions. Resilience is essential. I prefer old school approach and developed a thick skin. Able to take criticism, self evaluate and anaslyse. Yes dexterity and spacial awareness are important too.

Hello, how long does it take AFTER my application on UCAS to be reviewed by the specialists and be sent to the 5 unis I have chosen? Or does it get sent to the unis right away? Thank you
@isy2rapsblondie647Күн бұрын
As soon as you get your reference in from your members of staff and submitted your personal statement, then it goes to someone in school/college who submits it to the Uni. Then all the universities that you applied to get it but the length it takes for them to give you an offer varies depending on the size of the Uni and the amount of courses they do and the size of classes on the course(s) you applied to

Thanks, ma'am. *Capacitance vs Competence* Capacitance and competence can be confusing. Capacitance is used in medical contexts and competence is used in legal contexts. The key difference is that in capacity (not capacitance), the person has to hold or retain information and weigh the pros and cons, as over here the judge is the patient. So, in maths, capacity means the ability to hold a particular volume, and in physics, capacitance means the ability to hold charge. So in capacity, the patient has to hold the information. In English, if a person is incapacitated, they should first go and seek a doctor. Competence is not about holding the information but about having a back-and-forth conversation with the judge. The judge will retain or hold the information and weigh the pros and cons.

I think that the situation with the GP can be assed like this ( I am answering this before listening to his questions or her answers) : First things first, this patient is having heavy periods which cause her alot of pain and distract her from her day to day activities and progressing through her career (the condition is actively disturbing the patient daily) Secondly, this patient , eventhough she did not finish the treatment course, seemingly can not withstand the pain that she is in. This indicates that either she needs stronger pain killers, and at that point OBGYN should be consulted, or the patient is very impatient. To deal with the second case, the GP should explain to her that a surgery has many risks, like risk of infection, excessive blood loss, having an undiagnosed syndrom that causes her to crash in the OT, the waiting list, or even how her body will react to the scar. If the patient is well aware of all of these risks and still wishes to go on with the surgery, then I think the GP should step down from taking from leading the patient care, and that responsibility to the surgical team in a hospital. I also have another comment. The patient seems to have come to the GP to inform her that she is going private instead of actually discussing options with the GP. I think that this has both pros and cons. The pros are that this reduces the load on the NHS not just for medical professionals, but also interms of resources from sterlising surgical equipment to the antibiotics prescribed to the patient after the surgery. The con here, however, is that the patient believes that the GP is no longer of use to her. This is critical because it means that the patient will not depend on the GP for other matters as well since the patient feels that the GP is delaying or even objecting giving her the care that she wants. The consequences are that more people go to private care which hands them what they want, and people who can't afford private healthcare don't visit the GP as they have lost faith in this capabilities to treat them. The forth thing that I want to mention is that the doctor has gotten very defensive. Instead the doctor could have assured the patient for example by showing her that progress was made, even if it was small, and that the treatment is working but it just needs time. Additionally, the doctor could have told the patient about studies for example that show that the medication can have almost a similar effect as the surgery without the risk of the surgery. I think from our experience with GPs, we are not really given scientific data or even a resemblance of it during consultations. I think if patients are aware of how viable and reliable their treatment plans are and have been across multiple candidates, they might just continue to trust our judgement and not rush into thinking that GPs are refusing to help them. I would like to get feedback on my thinking from anyone who reads this please. Thanks

Based on my knowledge and research you may need to sit the International Baccalaureate and meet the following requirements: 39 (including core points) with 766 at HL. Candidates are required to take Chemistry and at least one of Biology, Physics or Mathematics to Higher Level. It's a good idea to email the admissions team at Oxford if you are still unsure. Good luck!

Many universities require an exam called the IALTS, this proves English language competency. At this stage, it is a good idea to look at the universities entry requirements, you can also email the admissions teams to the universities with any questions about these. Prices for international students to study medicine in the UK tend to vary between medical schools and are around £46,600 - £53,000 per year. Good luck!

I got into Glasgow CompSci with a BBC. Worst day of my life turned into my best. Here's a TON of EXTRA advice... 1. You have to sound really enthusiastic about the course while on the call, if the person doesn't sound as if he's in a rush you can mention something about the course you like. (eg, "love the 3rd year options here so I was thinking to apply"). Be confident, I know its hard with rejections. You're the negotiator that's selling yourself. 2. Be extremely kind to the guy on the phone, they hand out offers, and you may call them again if the clearance requirements drop later on. Clearance requirements always change. I didnt get into Lancaster CS on results day but the next day their requirements dropped and I got in. 3. Leverage good GCSE grades, or good predicted grades if you can, some unis might see that and see that you are a good student who had a momentary mess-up. 4. Clearance plus is an interface they will show you for unis that you can apply to without making a call. It is nice but chances are that they are showing you offers which are below what you can achieve. Do it, but do it quickly. 5. Be open to foundation years. Consider this: if you were to take an extra year on Alevels with an unconditional in that uni would you take it? Because that's what foundation years are. Besides, you'll need a good foundation if you mess up your a levels, and if you did mess up your alevels you'll likely get lower predicteds this time. 6. A lot of unis will have forms instead of phone numbers. Clearance calls take forever since you'll be on hold, with forms, you'll just need to fill it once and then you'll get an email response. It's also a great opportunity to provide more info, if you have good GCSEs (like me), good predicteds (thats me), a good personal statement (yuuup), or extenuating circumstances (yep) you can fill that in. Speaking of which... 7. Like this youtuber said, make a list of phone numbers and forms for clearance likely unis, get all the info you can since clearance is time sensitive, and you may want to prioritise forms first. 8. Ask for alternative courses, chances are that they have similar courses, for example for CS, they have software engineering, AI, or some kind of mix course eg. physics and compsci. 9. If you got into a good uni, aim higher/similar. Spots are running out! You cant waste time going for worse unis. Missed a possible Southampton offer because of this. 10. keep your phone on you at all times, you may miss a call-back offer if you don't! I was in the shower when I got my Glasgow offer. Had to turn it off and make a call soaking wet haha. 11. have someone you trust pick the results for you if you can, you can immediately start clearance from the comfort of you home then, and it will give you a bit of privacy if you know you did bad. 12. Prepare to spend a ton on mobile data, especially if you're making international calls. Even if you get a good uni you'll be making a lot of calls for similar alternative options. 13. Call your original uni to see if they're flexible, they may still take you in if it isn't competitive, I'd still check other unis though. 14. Get an idea on uni prestige through QS, times, and complete uni rankings, when you get you offers you can go in depth and then decide which uni to go to. They may have ranked lower in previous years and then suddenly spiked in ratings this year. You may also just prefer the vibe of a uni. Exciting prospects either way. 15. No time to waste, you'll spend the entire day on hold, or making calls. One day of sacrifice for the next 3-4 years. Prepare yourself with good food, and rest. 16. Fairly obvious but don't lie, they'll ask for your clearing number (you'll get on results day), and UCAS ID. They can use that to confirm info through UCAS. 17. Be 100% sure of your uni once you add it as your clearing option on UCAS, I accidently put my Newcastle offer prematurely so when I got my Glasgow offer I had to panic call UCAS to remove it as my option. Be reasonably fast though. Once you get your offer you'll need to give yourself a brutally honest assessment on where you messed up and you'll need to fix it immediately. You wont get a second chance in uni. You'll also need to apply fast for accommodation as you are late. I'd also avoid telling people that you got in through clearing because a lot of people put these unis as their first option. Best of luck, I'd love to hear about you success stories. FYI, I got into Lancaster, Glasgow, Newcastle, Liverpool, Nottingham (phy, and CS), Swansea, and UWE with LOTS of luck. There were also places in Southampton, Manchester, Birmingham, and QMUL. Changes every year.

Could you please do a video or a series on how to face a medical interview where you are expected to do an online role play of history taking and physical examination followed by a discussion on investigations and management with the panel. Thanks
@FutureDoc22 күн бұрын
We do have some content regarding role play scenarios. I have linked one below where the interviewee is asked to speak to a colleague about some inappropriate behaviour. Medical School interviews don't tend to ask you for medical knowledge so it would be unlikely for an interview to ask you about investigations and management of any conditions. It is more likely if you are asked to take a history from a patient that they want to see how you communicate with the patient and show compassion etc. Role play simulated interview -> kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZqwdKmFibqpf5osi=8LHF7iF74GIvk1ef

Competition ratios are much higher for international places at undergraduate medical schools, this is because most universities have a cap for international student places of around 10% of their intake. Consider this when applying. We will take your request under advisement, thank you.
