Never used TikTok nor would I, but I am beyond happy that this app that exists solely to enable the Chinese Communist government’s intelligence agencies and clandestine services to spy on people dumb enough to download and use the app is finally gone. Now, the next discussion will be how do we enable those who have never downloaded the app to seek compensatory redress from the idiots who did download the app and allowed their information to be hacked and stolen. If we were friends so you had my information on your phone, you had our text conversations, and possibly you may have even sent or received money via Zelle/cashapp, all of that data you handed over to the Chinese government by allowing TikTok on your phone and I had at least some reasonable expectation of privacy that you would not start sharing all of my data with the world. So for those of us who never downloaded TikTok the question becomes how will those who did, even after being warned not to and told of the risks that the app presented, compensate us for our stolen data up to and including our financial information, images, conversations.

NGL, I didn’t think it would really happen! I am not much of a tik tok user - I only watched one or two livestreams and then a bunch of cat videos, so I’m fine with it going away. BUT, I watched in real time as my favorite creator’s livestream just, stopped working. It was heartbreaking to watch - knowing that the last 3 years of hard work growing a community and it became her only source of income just disappear in a matter of minutes.
