Question, at first you said since Blue Jellyfish eats Red Moss and Sea lettuce, we have to assume it eats equally from both, so 1500 each. Why when you are analyzing what Sea urchin will eat, which eats Sea Fan and Sea lettuce, you just take all the calories it needs from one source (Sea Fan) and not considering it taking the 775 calories left from the Sea Lettuce also? Why it is eating the 3000 straight from the Sea Fan? Thanks @prepmatter

Just complete my PSG and wanna say thank you for having this walkthrough video, I went through my ecosystem game with no stress and completed within 15 minute. It just that I overspent too much time on using the on screen calculator and understanding the journals for Redrock part, despite the question and the long paragaph is easy. Great video! Quick question... On a case like this, would it not have been beneficial asking a clarifying question regarding whether or not we are the only firm in the industry experiencing declining profits? I feel like that would have saved some time that would be better spent during the case. Then for example if the answer was "no, all other cement firms within the area are experiencing declining profits", how would the root cause analysis bucket change? Would you still communicate the quantitative causes with more of an emphasis on the qualitative causes? Thanks so much!

Thank you for your question! We recommend not asking this question at the beginning of the interview. Most interviewers prefer that candidates delve deeper into the financials later in the discussion. It is generally good practice to start by internally understanding the root cause of the problem before inquiring whether it is specific to our client or a market-wide issue.

10:08 Thanks alot!!! I don't understand why Spade Fish was removed. Isn't it true that the ecosystem would survive even if Sea Urchin, instead of Spade Fish, was removed? If that's the case, the remaining calories for the Sea Fan would be 3,500 - 2,400 = 1,100, right?😮

Hi, I just took the PSG and it was terrifying. I also had the third task about categorizing microbes according to the attributes. It was mentioned nowhere on the web, and had a hard time getting through it. It might have been a new part of the game they're testing. My ecosystem creation game was somehow different(It had 4 levels and spent a lot of time working it out) too. I'm wondering if anyone had the same experience with me. Seriously, these guys are evolving so fast... anyway, your video was great! I did great on the first two tasks except the third one i screwed up thx to you. I appreciate it.

In a real-life scenario, the revenue and costs would increase at around the same rate, and margins would likely stay the same. In the actual case interview, it might be a good idea to check with the interviewer if we should keep price, quantity, and costs constant over the next 5 years. In most cases, for simplicity, you can keep them constant. However, if the interviewer pushes you to consider a different solution, you could run an NPV analysis for 5 years with a discount rate of 10% (which is the most common WACC rate).

Hey, I have a quick question on 21:37. The question is asking us to analyze BETWEEN December and April, but you include december in your analysis. @Prepmatter 26 күн бұрын
Thanks for your question! In a business context, 'between' two time periods includes both periods. For example, if we need to analyze how a company performed between 2020 and 2023, we examine the financials of 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. Hope that clarifies things!

You won't be able to pause, as the first face appears immediately after you start the game. However, if you position the cursor in the middle of the screen initially, you should be able to move it to the edge of the mouth right away. Hey! One question with regards to Question 2 (Redrock Study): You have calculated the percentage change. However, the question was about the percentage POINT change. My approach: for summit depth --> (47-10)/10 = 370% for base depth --> (35-8)/8 = 337.5% Therefore, the percentage POINT difference is 370% - 337.5% = 32.5%

@Prepmatter
@Prepmatter Ай бұрын
To make it easier to determine the appropriate approach, in top-down questions, demand is the bottleneck, whereas in bottom-up questions, supply is the bottleneck. In this video, we've covered the maternity clothing market in London, where demand is the bottleneck-meaning the larger the population of women in London, the larger the potential market. We treated the daily revenue of a local gym as a bottom-up question because we assume that a larger gym will attract more people, thus increasing revenues, assuming the demand exists. However, if the city’s population were to double, the gym’s revenues might not necessarily double due to potential constraints like space limitations. Having said that, in many market sizing questions, you can use both approaches to triangulate your results.

Timestamp 37:24 The question asks, “… if the realistic scenario is realised for all 3 activities”. If this was the case, the likelihood would be irrelevant altogether and a total of 8 + 5 + 4 = 17 species would have been saved. The question should have put the Likelihood percentages given below each graphs into context and how it relates to the animals saved.

The eating order is unclear in the video: The species with the highest “Calories Provided” eats first…. The eating order is not simply sorted by organising the animals from the highest “Calories provided” to lowest at the very start of the task. When an animal (or producer) is consumed by another animal, the remaining amount of calories left on that Animal may change the “eating order” as the reduction changes "calories provided" of the respective animal. So in this example, if you determine the eating order right at the start by looking at the "Calories provided", you would get: (1) - Great White Shark, (2) - Blue Jellyfish, (3) - Sea Urchin, (4) - Shrimp, (5) - Loggerhead Sea Turtle, and producers do not eat. However, if do the calculations and shuffle the eating order as you go, you will end up getting the following eating order: (1) - Great White Shark, (2) - Blue Jellyfish, (3) - Loggerhead Sea Turtle, (4) - Shrimp, (5) - Sea Urchin, and producer do not eat. So the eating order changes progressively in the process.... This is not clear in the video.

@@astriddymling6917 No, you are not missing anything. After I left the comment here, I went back to my xls and noticed the eating order mistake I made in the comments. There is some confusion in the Eating Rules under guidance. Timestamp 3:00 I would recommend the following changes in the wording: Para 1: The species with the highest “Calories Provided” eats first…. The animal eats its “Food Source” with the highest “Calories Provided” in the first instance… providing that the “Calories provided” of the prey satisfies the “Calories needed” of the respected Animal. If the Animal is feeding on multiple sources of food, AND they ALL provide equal amount of calories (e.g. Sea Lettuce providing 3000 cal. and Red Moss providing 3000 cal.), then the Animal will eat both prey equally… e.g. 1,500 cal. from each. Para 3: Then the species with the next highest “Calories Provided” eats in the Ecosystem…. If there is a tie between “Calories Provided” for the Animals (e.g. Sea Urchin providing 2,100 cal. and Spadefish providing 2,100 cal.), then no Animal will take priority as the “primary eater” and will therefore split their food source equally. E.g. Sea Urchin and Spadefish both eat Sea Fan, they would fulfil their calorie need by utilising 50% of the prey’s “Calories Provided”. This information is given at Timestamp 9:46 but not included in the Eating Rules under guidelines, or at least clear enough.
