I think Luka Modric is the best overall central midfielder ever - even though others may be better than him in certain departments, e.g. Bergkamp and Zidane may have better first touch, Xavi and Scholes may have better passing range, Iniesta may be better at dribbling, but I think Luka Modric combines defence with tactical positioning plus tempo setting plus dribbling plus passing better than each. Just my opinion

I am old. I have seen many great midfielders. Luka is the best. He has results to back it up. He won 25 different titles with Real Madrid. With Croatian national team he won silver in the WC, in 2018, and bronze in 2022. He also won silver in the last Nations league Cup.
