I can't see the problem. The road is too tight with cars making it worse. As for the truck drivers, both seem to have handled this well. The view for the artic driver was restricted so he couldn't plan this.

Everyone has now got a platform from which, in many cases, to have a one sided view. I daresay that LC's Daf has a dashcam, which gives a different slant on who's at, if any, fault. Shame you've got nothing else to bleat about.

So, let me get this right. You had obstructions on your side of the road but positioned yourself so there wasn't enough space for oncoming traffic to pass you. I'm not sure why you think this isn't your fault.
@Shylo2017 Жыл бұрын
Are you for real? Where else was he supposed to go? He has to continue through at some point. If the yellow lorry had just looked ahead and stopped where the cars did at the end of the clip, there would've been no problem. You do realise the cammer is in a lorry too, right?

The problem is these trucks thinking they can drive on roads that were probably set out as little more than bridleways... Even without the parked cars those two trucks would have been tight on that road.

I see a lot of these class 1 drivers trying to overtake doing 1mph more than the truck beside them. Where is the courtesy of allowing other drivers to finish their manoeuvre and get back in? Takes trucks like 5 minutes to overtake vehicles. Should incorporate this as a traffic offence and drivers should be given points and a fine if found guilty. Easy to take a couple of mph off your cruise control
@ClackstarsDashCam Жыл бұрын
Its a narrow road bud and hes as far over as he could go. Even Stevie Wonder can see those bollards. If anything its your judgement that needs to be questioned as 'im the biggest on the road' good in theory but when you aren't you aren't. Simples move on.....

Another question here is why are school runs never, ever targeted by the police? You get blocked roads, parking on blind bends, on zig-zags and as here, all over the pavement. If you get past that you then invariably have a Mum doing a 20 point turn rather than drive 50 yards ahead and use a roundabout to turn. Seriously, it does annoy me how motorists on motorways and all other roads are policed heavily and fined heavily for a few mph over the limit on empty roads (ie no danger to anyone) yet these school run drivers, more often than not in massive SUVs they simply cannot manoeuvre, are as said, never targeted. Yet I cannot think of more dangerous scenarios and dangerous driving than at school drop off and pick up time. All it would take is one copper dishing out (many fines) for a few days and it might just stop - to the benefit of ALL.
@tango6nf477 Жыл бұрын
Lets see it from the point of view of Mr Connolly for a moment. He is approaching from around a right hand bend giving little visibility ahead. He has about 5 seconds to see the situation ahead, assess it, decide what to do and then do it. He decides to stop but unfortunately it is a couple of seconds too late, he's now realised that because of the oncoming truck that has stopped he may not get through the gap. What are his options? Reverse, in an artic in a confined space like this with vehicles behind, I don't think so, the same reasons the Eaton9speed truck cant either. Other options? Result is impasse neither trucks can reverse and going forward is very difficult, but he cant just wait. There are many roads like this that just weren't made for big artic trucks, parked vehicles make it worse for truck drivers and situations like this are inevitable. I have to have a little sympathy for Mr. Connolly, and I'm not a Truck Driver

At 0:01 there is a section of the road painted red with "Patrol" writ large on it. What does this mean? What sort of patrol? I have been to the UK but not specifically to Northern Ireland and I haven't seen this sort of road markings before.
@theplaneimage Жыл бұрын
I'm guessing it is, along with the "Patrol" road sign beside it, to reinforce the message that there is a school ahead and you may be signalled to stop by a School Crossing Patrol -- a Lollipop person with a STOP board/lollipop.

I sit in my van wasting hours each month shaking my head at so called professional drivers. Sometimes it pays to give way to advance in a normal time span, but pig headedness and lack of vision now come 2nd and 3rd on our roads, potholes (state of repairs) being number 1

Not the best place for two LGVs to meet, but it's not helped by the three illegally parked cars. It could do with school safety zone markings both sides, but then again would that stop them parking in it?
@mickey129911 ай бұрын
Actually , the only illegal act those parked cars have committed , is that they are blocking the pavement , but otherwise nothing else . No yellow lines , no restriction . I would guess this is quite common and those drivers do that to help others out

A classic case of a distinct lack of courtesy from the truck driver, all he had to do was give way to oncoming traffic. I spent 2 months in England from April to June this year and the drivers are terrible.

It's what I call on my channel Class one but not first class. See more and more dumb tricks like this these days, been a lorry driver since March '84 and still at it, but the skill level of certain drivers have really brought a bad name to our industry. I was worried when the age limit fell from 21 but I've been impressed by many a young driver in recent years for their ability and professional attitude. I take it you were able to pass on some words of advice to this bozo about his awareness and forward planning. All the best.
