How do you handle negative reactions to your crochet projects?

I have been SO pleased with my yarns from Hobbii. Like you, I'm in a HOT state and I buy a lot of cotton/linen/bamboo blends from Hobbii. I really like that they have BIG sales and when things aren't on sale, you get a discount for ordering multiple skeins. That makes it so much easier for me to buy a sweater quantity of yarn.
@offthehookcrochetnicole4 күн бұрын
Agreed! It is a great alternative for those types of yarns, especially the lighter weight ones since most brick and mortar chain stores don't offer much variety in the smaller weights.

I just finished a shawl made with Sultan Kings, first time using a non-twisted fiber, and was worried about the 4 strands. I had absolutely no issues. I did use a bead but I’m not sure it was needed. I still really like Hobbii Twister best (have a ton of it in my stash) but the Sultan Kings is a great alternative when I want all cotton.

Boy do I understand the struggle with "highwater" pants. Only I grew seemingly an inch every year, it sure showed in my pants. I'm 5' 8" now and I refuse ANY fashion that requires showing my ankles.

I'm packing for a domestic flight right now. I'm bringing only replaceable hooks - my Furls Odysseys are staying safely at home!!! I like to bring small projects - hats are good. My latest obsession is making cup kozies and worry worms using odds and ends. This trip is a budget flight for just a few days, so I'm only bringing a personal bag. Very limited stash space!! I can put everything into a plastic sandwich bag and into the pocket of my coat.

8/4 is half the thickness of 8/8. So if you doublestand 8/4 you will get 8/8. First number indicates it is spun from threads of thickness "8" and the second number indicates the amount of threads is used to spin the yarn.

My mom did tunisian crochet. Her first blanket was finished for the Bicentennial and it had an eagle and some stars. She entered it into the state fair that year and won 1st place. I do love me some Americana. I made a flag blanket for a boss i was working for at the time, circa 2010.

Yeah I'm pretty frugal (cheap 😄) too. Woobles kits are waaaaay over priced. I could get a set of crochet hooks (I like susan bates aluminum) 4 skeins of yarn and a pair of scissors for that price. Which is all ya need to get started, right? You have a unique approach to videos. I'm binge watching now. 😂
@offthehookcrochetnicole27 күн бұрын
More companies are coming out with kits that aren't as expensive. I get the point of the woobles is that the yarn is super easy to work with and the tutorials that come with them are supposed to be really well done but it's totally possible to learn with a hook, a single skein, and KZbin. That's how I did! So glad you are enjoying the videos!

With the cotton that is not plied, take a pony bead, or small bead and pull yarn through it. The bead keeps the yarn from coming undone. If you center pull, keep yarn is a snug box or bowl so it doesn’t collapse outward. You may need to ball the yarn when you get close to the center, to prevent tangles.
@virtualateam8949Ай бұрын
Great tips! I did see the one about the pony bead on their website but I think I'll wind it first and work from the outside for this one.

@CrazyCoolCrochetАй бұрын
@@offthehookcrochetnicole Nope. I don't do that either. Since it's usually wearables they are asking for, it's too risky to take the time away from my crochet business to devote the hours and then what if it doesn't fit? No one has actually asked me to make something specifically for them. They usually ask me to make my items for sale because they want to buy. Only twice I have given my "example" piece to my daughter and granddaughter who really, really loved and wanted an item.

I always buy Hobbii. The candy in my shipments usually taste like raspberry. The yarn that was like threads not “twisted “ is the word I think you were looking for. There are many twists and the tighter the twists the better stitch definition, in. Y opinion
