As for why people didn't automatically sing along : it was not a matter of liking the song, this was woodstock... Pretty much everybody was stoned, hence the delay in the reaction time.... 😅

When his time comes they will have to video it because he will have musicians from country, gospel, folk, R&B, rap, metal, and other types. He influenced so many different people. I’ve been to one of his shows his band has to know his music from the50’s to now, because he’ll just keep playing into the next song.

Actually in the eagle documentary glen said he and a friend were in a bar in L.A. they saw this beauty with a like 75 year old man. He turned to his friend and said “ look at those lying eyes”. The rest is history.

You see this song is about UNITY. Secondly, they were one of the first goups to introduce FUNK to popular music. Sly's influence is seen in many artists, Earth Wind & Fire and Prince to name two.
