Very precise and straight to the point. Thank you.

Beautiful setup! You mentioned using 3 phase motors for power. For this experiment what is the minimum horse power single phase motor is needed.Ignore the ease of speed control for now. Thanks. Phil 4:41

What’s the type of this alternator? How much of the frequency and voltage?
@kls202010 күн бұрын
difference between your "simulated" grid Frequency and oncoming generator output Frequency is called "Slip Frequency " . With your sync lights the higher the slip frequency (60.3 Hz for example) the faster the lights blink and the lower the slip frequency (say 59.7 Hz for example )the slower blink rate .

If we talk about differential signaling (CAN bus for example), why is it needed to also invert one channel? If we apply math channel 1+2 then any difference in voltage would be subtracted and we are left with an actual signal, the same which would transceiver interpret at the end as logical value. Or am I wrong?

Our Little University has a power generation lab, except we synchronised with the actual mains grid of the university. I clearly remember there being no safety briefing and all of these 415VAC live exposed terminals being everywhere.

Trust me the ADD and Invert work perfect when probing into unknown territory. In high school (1970's) we were taught differently and will not go there do to liability but is does work and prefer not to use that method. It wasn't until I acquired a Tek 7854 which had a differential plugin only to find out later when someone showed me this method the plugin is not needed on a dual trace with ADD and channel 2 Invert. Just remember like this gent said if you were wanting to look at a phase in a motor controller even at just 20 amp fused that ground lead at 16AWG at best will pretty much explode in your hand and molten copper slung everywhere along with melted insulation. Also good 10X probes are not a bad idea either as most budget scopes only go up to 10 volts per division. Good job with the video.

I have a question that has been bothering me: after changing the settings of the protection relay, do I still need to conduct a test? For example, the overcurrent protection has been changed from 5A to 6A. Do you still need to test the relay protection? Thank you
It would be very informative if it’s possible to make demonstration when water level goes below water pump level and how to provide suction when water level is below pump

I got confused by this so I asked ChatGBT to describe to me the difference like I'm 5 years old! Hub: Imagine a big classroom where the teacher (the hub) shouts every message out loud to everyone in the room, even if the message is only for one person. Everyone hears it, but it might be confusing or noisy, because every message goes to everyone, even when it's not for them. Switch: Now imagine a smart teacher (the switch) who knows exactly which student the message is for and whispers it directly into their ear. Only the person who needs the message gets it, and it’s much quieter and faster for everyone else. In short: Hub: Yells everything to everyone. Switch: Sends the message only to the right person. Switches are like smart helpers who make things quicker and easier by only sharing what’s needed!

Interesting video! I never saw a switch taking 5 minutes to update it's mac table. Is this a cheap netgear issue? Usually when a switch inidicates a port up, it refreshes the mac table.

My analogy of synchronising of three phase alternators is not using " rotating batteries" as that does not make sense. I rather thnk of three flying members of the red arrows flying 120 digress with respect to each other performing a " barrel roll in one direction and following them are three flying members of the Blue angels, The idea of synchronizing the two teams is to get a passenger in each of the blue angles to jump over to the cockpits of the red arrows Without ANYONE GETTING HURT. Hence the required state is that the each team must be 120 digress with respect to each other and roling on the same diameter circle and in the same direction . Only then the equality of the voltage, the right phase sequence and the frequency are met, The rotating battery is a silly example to suggest as it is much more than that, The two , three member display team is a more faithful analogy. Perhaps rather than two display teams one should use three fuel tankers while three F-22 are all trying to refuel at the same time with the three tankers flying the equivalent of a three phase supply system, with the three F- 22 following with the required synchronised state! Hunting about the final point is interesting and excitation and throttle control is not explained by using " rotating batteries". One can use a similar demonstration using synchros or two wound rotor induction motors, If one excites the rotor with AC and rotate the rotor one can get a rotating three phase on the stator Two such motors excited from the same AC source can remain non rotating with a similar effect . Also the three light bulbs are not connected so that they all show zero voltage at synchronization but two will be bright and one will be dark. and they do show the difference in rotation and not only the pulsating effect, A synchroscope is only a unit with a three phase winding on the stator and a three phase winging on the rotor where the excitation from the two incoming alternators rotate the magnetic fields in different directions with the shaft of the unit remaining stationary at a particular direction when synchronization is best to be activated. ,

is there a way of braking a motor without spending electricity but instead generating it? I know, regenerating brakes, but how does one keep a constant rpm?
