Great video! Is the Blue DCi as reliable as the mk1 duster unit? Any AdBlue problems?

@@Adam-oj9zj only issue is that if your adblue tank is low but still a few hundred miles left it may not get through if your on a steep incline, I met some other explorers and we stopped for a short time and I was on a steep slope sideways, the emissions error came on then we realised the adblue must have shifted and didn't go where it needed to go! Mines reliable considering the damage I do to it!

@@the_explorer_adam Thanks for that info! I'd like to buy a Duster soon, does the DCi unit need high mileage to avoid DPF problems? I have a 2014 Hyundai i30 hatcback with a 1.6 CRDi diesel at the moment and it has been happy with mainly short trips/urban driving and then a few hours on the motorway once every 4-6 weeks. I live rural at the bottom of a big hill so I'm wondering which model Duster would be best, looking at the Gen 1/Gen 2 models. Do you have any advice or suggestions please! Love the videos - I'd love to give greenlaning a go in the future.

@@northeastmtb8869 to get the best location and correct live or travel you really need an OS map location, thus it you join the green lane association the code will take you straight there. Or use bing maps on a pc to locate the lane on a free ordnance survey map

@@marksmith1676 I'd say it's probably more to do with fly tipping, it's easily accessible so easy to get far in without the barrier to dump your crap without anyone seeing. Yes, dogging, great idea! A nice firm surface to place your feet outside the car... Why didn't I think of that 🙂

How do you rate the new Duster's off road ability compared to the outgoing model?

@@Danube_Man we only did one lane but it's got some really cool features like before on the multi cam you just see a camera view, the new one has a guide that adjusts with the steering on all 4 cameras so you'll always see where you going to go, this is great for the side cameras to navigate rocks etc. Then you can also see the pitch and roll both on the media screen but the best bit is you can see it on your dash screen! It's even got an amber and red section to warn you your reaching maximum! If you're on Facebook I have some photos of these things

@@sentralsix funny you should say that, the new duster has a power distribution graphic on the centre display, it shows what wheels are being powered and the distribution of power between front and back, if you look on my Facebook page you'll see the graphic. And it clearly used the 4x4 in various sections

Yes but not so safe and easy. It is about this car it is here in its ease where it behaves best and is the most economical. You don't need 2.5 engine for driving in first and second gear.

Put winter tyres on any 2WD car and it will do the same. Similarly, put Pirelli Pilot Sports on a defender and it wont move. It’s all about the rubber guv!!

Many thanks another great route and one I’ve done many times. Nowadays it’s fine but back in the 1970s when we did on cycles we were less welcome by the RAF who had live Bloodhound missiles armed next to the crash gate you passed. Keep up the good work, especially helpful here in Lincolnshire where the highway authorities discourage us to align with their current political energy saving fad.

@@bsajoss sometimes you can't prevent them, we have a lane a stones throw from Nuneaton. Amazing for a Duster. Water section was great however it got closed with a PSPO and they last 3 years due to fly tipping. It's now 6 years in and a freedom of information request I put in shows that everyone was against it however it still got closed!

Another very helpful video. I have done the lane opposite at the Welby end on my motorcycle but your route from the A52 looks very challenging. Strange to encounter a camper en route? I do wonder does your vehicle get badly scratched. It’s easy for me on an off road bike or my Honda cub as it’s much narrower. Hopefully your series will continue in this area for a while it’s most informative and interesting. Thank you.

@@wheelssleaford268 it is scratched but it got worse on my Devon explore I got a lot of damage. That's why I have white cars, they scratch white! It's not a camper it's the owner of the burnt out HGV thing you see, click the 2016 link in description and you'll see how they have fell from grace (the videos from the opposite direction in 2016)

Just to confirm; is this green lane marked as a byway? As I cant find it on the Leicester online rights of way map which doesn’t show any byways in the vicinity.

Sorry for the long delay your message was pushed down the list by other notifications. It is an unclassified country road, it is therefore not on rights of way maps. It is effectively under Leicestershire highways rather than Leicestershire rights of way teams. On an OS map you'll see it's marked with ORPA (Other Routes with Public Access) dots and forms part of the 'midshires way' long distance route.
