Looks like a nice stand for the money. I bought a silver and orange truing stand for $190 that is just as good or better than a Park Tool truing stand that would have cost $600+ with all the accessories. I'm not a tool snob. Whatever tools work best for the money is what I am buying. There are some tools that Park Tool is the best for the money like the chain breaker.

I bought an identical stand off Amazon a couple years ago for $80. Still works just fine. Can't complain! I don't like the stabilizer; I replaced it with the feedback one I've been eyeing up the park pcs-10.3 for the professional feeling clamp! $250 though probably not worth it

In this area the only bikes for sale are from flippers, which I don't really see as a bad thing so long as they don't try and fix anything. There's nothing worse than finding what would have been a clean 1970's bike that some idiot hung a bunch of cheap modern parts on thinking they were fixing it or making worth more. For the most part, if it weren't for the trash pickers and flippers many bikes would never see the light of day or would end up at the dump at the bottom of a trash truck. I've gotten some of the best bikes I've ever owned from scrappers and flippers who buy from estate sales and auctions. One local salvage yard used to separate bicycles and they had a mountain of bikes there, but as the pile got higher the bikes on the bottom got pretty battered. I used to always got there in the 80's to look for deals that got hauled in for scrap. Back then they'd sell them by the pound, so a 40 lb bike was $40. It saved them from dealing with the cables and tires before they hit the shredder. I got my first two Peugeot PX10's that way, as wel as dozens of Schwinn Varsities and other great bikes. The last thing you want is a bike from a 'Used bicycle shop" where most all of them are hobbled together with what ever parts were available at the time with a tall price tag in the end. I see a bikes value as no more than the sum of its parts, no more If the wheels have good chrome, if all the spokes are three and the paint is mostly intact, all for a good price then I'm interested. I rarely give more than $20 or $30 for any bike knowing that as soon as I get it home its going to come completely apart and go through a long process of cleaning and re-lubing everything and then a complete polish/ touch up, and detail of the whole bike. However, if I spend two days working on a bike, and decide to sell it, chances are I've got more into than anyone around here would ever pay. Top dollar on any used bike here seems to be $50 or so on CL or FB Marketplace. Most buyers lately have been asking for the cheaper department store brands of the 70's and 80's and have zero interest in the better models.

I use a strip of webbing wrapped around the beams of my garage with a loop I hook my saddle on. Another strip with a clip that I loop under the stem. A simple system that costs like $10. You could use eyelets threaded into the ceiling for house use.

Nice review but I'll stick with my Park PRS-25 stand for remote repairs such as free bikes for kids. At home I love love love my Park Tool electric lift stand. Can you do a review on parallel pliers? I have the Feedback Sports pliers but I recently picked up a pair slightly larger Icon ones at Harbor Freight. I know several pro mechanics swear by the Knipex pliers. Right now I find them most useful for threaded headsets. Take care!

I have a Feedback Sports stand for events, and a Park Professional stand in the shop. (I wish I had a power lift.) The Vevor is not too bad for the price for those who work on their bike a few times a year. I have the old-school lock nut tools for threaded headsets, so I haven't used the pliers. But that would be a good review since I still use them frequently. Thanks for your insights and sharing! I'll look into doing a review.

COVID had a huge impact on pricing because of the “demand” of most products yet we are not seeing declines in pricing since demand is WAY down and supply is way UP….this negates the arguments of the supply-demand model. Businesses will charge what ever they want and justify it with whatever they want… the price of new mountain bikes have not gone down at all…

Trek uses XDS Bicycle Company (China owned) builds most of the Treks now in Cambodia. Quest Composite Technology (China) build most of the road Carbon Frames that are shipped to Cambodia or the USA to be put together. Giant builds a few of the end alloy MTB bikes in Tiawan for Trek. I would guess the high-end Treks MTB will move to Cambodia has XDS gets larger and better at building. XDS is one of the largest brands in China and is China owned. They are making product in Cambodia. I believe XDS will replace Merida has the second largest producer of bikes soon and be the largest in less than 10 years.

Taiwan and japan both drive all their garbage on a barge and dump it in the ocean. I just bought a cheap Chinese e bike and most use samsung and mine had LG batteries not many companies make 18650 cheaper. I cant afford to pay a middle man to slap an american flag sticker on my e bike. Fluoride comes fron aluminium and they dump that in the water.😢 back in the day they talked in Congress about slapping a tariff on German straight razors just like china puts tariffs on all foreign products or demans part ownership of the facrory.

Economy is in the dumps. A glut of product, and families are strained. I have 4 kids and several carbon bikes, my fuel and grocery bill went up $15k (we live in town and ride bikes everywhere) annually from 2020. Taxes and insurance over %100 equaling over $20k added expenses to our household. Most bought bikes last 3 years, time to cut prices production back, let oil prices and refineries get back to forecasting no Government sabotage of the market(large oil companies will always win$ btw) and let the cost of things stabilize and quit taking money, QT, out of the economy. Then we will see it all come back into normality. A bike company being bold in a few situations is not what crashed the market.

What is Johnny-Boy Burke gonna do if Trek goes belly-up? Does he have $$ stashed offshore to live on? They'll downsize/layoff any/everyone to stay alive, having GIANT make bikes with TREK decals on 'em until the bitter end, even if they're sold in Sprawl-Mart. Yamaha e-bikes were over-priced turds...no surprise they had little success.

This analogy drives me nuts. It’s not a fair comparison. You can buy a premium aluminum road bike for just over 1k. A Madone SLR9 is a top of the line, no expense spared, race bike. It’s also a bike that you can walk into a store and buy, then watch a pro on tv ride the same bike. If you wanted a worldSBK super bike you are out of luck because you can’t buy one. If by some off chance you could buy one it would cost 250k.

Honestly they will survive as one of the biggest names out there. But as for all companies they need to lower prices to bring back the buying confidence. Stop trying to reinvent a bicycle and just make a nice bike. Cut the cost on engineering the newest model every year. Got a good design? Keep it for 4-5 years then re do it. It’s not about the bike it’s about the rides we go on.

Also, this idea that the bike companies "didn't see it coming" after Covid, what a bunch of malarky. I'm a Marketing Manager in non-related industry, lifelong recreational cyclist. There is NO WAY these companies believed they could shift the prices astronomically upward without reverse downward pressure. They couldn't stock low end stuff during Covid due to demand, so they rode the wave up and continually released more and more expensive and (high profit margin) bikes. There was always going to be a rubberband effect, especially with rising interest environment and commercial real estate issues. What these companies were HOPING wouldn't happen, is the re-election of Donald Trump and his commitment to tarriffs. Start making more of your mid to high end stuff in the USA, and you'll earn a lot more business, not to mention respect.
