I had a chance to get one of these at a great mark down because the original owner had hired me for a recording session and failed to pay me anything for it. And then, I was the dope let it go because I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to maintain it. Now, if I want one again, I think of those numbers you quoted. Good thing I am satisfied enough with the emulations on my digital synthesizers.

The definitive keyboard sound of Genesis. Casio did a nice job replicating it in CT-S1 model. Basically when I play it, I pretend to be Tony Banks lol

I own a CP-70 that we are about to sell, it was not used a lot, and the half that has the strings, is in an Anvil case, with large wheels, both parts have been in storage here in Southern California for about 20 years, it’s in great condition… wanna make me an offer? I just now set it up, and have new photos of it, I’m a lifelong musician myself (mostly on bass), let me know, we recently posted it for sale - Chris :-)

I own a CP70, my parents bought it for me around 1980. Always loved this piano, haven't played it for years but, I still have it & it's in pristine condition. 🎹

You have the right idea with tasteful signal processing at the output stage of the CP70. Naked into a guitar amp, it needs to be played softly. Pushed hard, it can sound downright strident to the point of ugliness. One of my best ever gigs (1983) was on a CP70b and i wished that I had more signal processors back then.

I paid mine 3000 euro. Which is expensive, but the price they go by here in Belgium. If you find one online that is!

The first time I recognized the sound of a cp70 was Tim playing with Keane.I hadn't known it was a CP70/80 in those songs you spoke about . Such a distinctive sound. I love it. Does the fact that the strings are horizontal make its action more like an acoustic grand piano than say, an upright piano?

What do you think about ABBA's white YAMAHA CP80B used by Benny Andersson on 1979/80 tours? 😍
@daviddepauw32454 жыл бұрын
The CP70 was also used by Prince from 1980 to 1985, both on record and on stage. It's on display (purple of course) in Paisley Park now. I sold mine in 2008 but missed it so much I bought another in 2015 (got it for 650 euro, but the tolex was removed and it's painted white - I like it even more). I'll never sell this one. So, another Belgian owner right here. 😎
