Fantastique.

How pld are these houses? They look good in the snow Though I imagine they'd be cold! Nice drone shots & tasty looking food!

The houses in this village are not particularly old, but I would say they are at least 100 years old.😃

@@ajadrew The ages of the buildings vary, but some are as old as 300 years old. However, Gokayama's Gassho-style architecture is one example of sericulture architecture. It took on that form during the period of global export of silk textile products that began in the Meiji era.😃

Nice to know there's still some gold & silver left in the V shaped mountain & that there are plenty of jail cells for anyone who tries to steal the gold! Beautiful old buildings along the walk from Kamimachi to Shimomachi & the Sado Magistrate's Office is superb, I'm glad it wasn'r effected by that earthquake. The mountains look stunning from the ferry at the end! 👍😊

Aikawa used to be the center of Sado Island, so the court and the detention center were located there. It is not realistic for an individual to extract gold from the soil of a gold mine. The gold is still lying dormant, but it is not economically profitable.😅

These old concrete ruins are very grey & sombre but good to see the water channels & the shot at 17:54 before the coloured lights are seen!

Always sad when the schools have closed meaning there's no children left but good that it's still being used. Nice shrines - I know there's such a lot of history there!

It's wonderful that the abandoned school has been put to use and has survived without being demolished, but it does feel a bit lonely in the quiet village with no children in sight.😢😖
