Oh, this is so good! It reminds me of the vidding I used to see when I was in High school and vidding was just becoming a big trend while younger people were also just starting to get access to and learn the software that could do all the really fancy effects and transitions. So a lot of vidding work posted online was either extremely effects-heavy because people were wanting to show off everything their new programs could do or it was work solely with music, footage, and audio where they leaned on those things alone to showcase their own creative storytelling rather than diving into the insane complexity of what programs like Sony Vegas could do. Don't get me wrong - there was mad skill involved in the flashy, fast paced, heavily edited vids. But there was a different and equally impressive value in videos like this that focus on the skills of storytelling and emotion more than the skills of video editing techniques and mastery of complex software. I feel like this style of vidding has gone down in popularity with the rise of tiktok-style vidding that emphasises very short vids that are visual effects-heavy, punchy, flashy pieces that aim to grab attention over telling a story so that they can stay relevant since thats how tiktok's algorithm is set up to work. But this is an utterly timeless style that im glad to still see being done so well. And this video is a *masterclass* in that style.
