could you film a video on how to take off the big fat intake system without breaking knots or something?
@MrBobsVids8 ай бұрын
Great cinematography, clearly pictured, thank you! So the flow is move one side of the clip of, pry up a little, then once one side is 'released' a bit push the other side of the clip off and the connector then fully releases?
@ingosrestorations96428 ай бұрын
Yes, I would keep a little bit of pressure with the pry bar/screwdriver as shown in video while pushing the other side off. Remember to be gentle. Hope this Helps

As some have mentioned already, this is probably the best video on the subject I have seen thus far. So specifically clear and straight forward. I have an issue with my icv. It was so hard to find a strong A to B on this topic. This video is tremendously helpful. Thank you.

thanks for the video.... I've removed everything and still when I grab the valve I can't take it out even though it moves but with the feel of a rubber hose attached... I don't wanna apply too much force pulling it out cause I feel I might brake it... seems to be attached to the back air opening of the valve.... as you've stated... is there a clamp on that back hose? or should I just pull it maybe helping kit with a flat screwdriver ?
@pekde20 күн бұрын
Nobody says this in the videos but you have to turn/tilt it a little bit. Then it does not need much force. The videos are usually bad not telling the important things.

E46 325i 2004 here, the first time I installed mine I had to use the heat gun to flex it somewhat, the part that goes over throttle body is always a pain I. The butt to put back on

They can last at least 300,000 miles all need to do is clean it out with throttle body cleaner.

I have been working on BMW vehicles for long time and always find crack on rubber and plastic hoses. I use rubber JB weld to fix every cracks on rubber or plastic hoses. Never have any issue.

@ingosrestorations9642 Жыл бұрын
Hello, on what type of vehicle is the M10 in? On our 1985 318i E30 the o2 sensor wire is next to the distributor. It is only a small plug. Our 1984 E30 does not have an o2 sensor.

Good video. I have a '83 E21 and use the same method as you. As far as OEM, all of the BMW parts aren't necessarily superior. Their fuel pumps are notorious for failing. A BMW pump can be $450 vs. a Bosch that's $100. BMW Parts Deal is a good site for looking up and pricing parts. Lots of diagrams. Keep up the good work.

What symptoms did you have in case of bad idle control valve?Rough idle or no idle at all?Maybe EML control light?
@ingosrestorations9642 Жыл бұрын
Hello Mario, In my case I had a rough idle. I had already cleaned the idle control valve once and the car was close to 300,000 miles on it. It was time to change. No lights came on.

Did you try cleaning it first with some brake cleaner before purchasing a new one when you clean it real good you can head rattle inside when you shake it
@ingosrestorations96422 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I have cleaned the valve in the past before, but this time the noise it was making was different. It was hard to hear in the video, but it sounded as something internally had broken.

How much play should the distributor shaft have? My m10 distributor keeps stripping out the distributor rotor for some reason and I am unsure if I need to replace the whole distributor.
@ingosrestorations96422 жыл бұрын
Hello, there is some play, but not excessive. I am on the road this week, but next week I can make a video showing the distributor. I have a new one in my garage. Maybe that could clear it up for you.

I’m having this same issue. You ever get it figured out?
@bmwe30club642 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for this content.... there's so much missing on KZbin about M10 Engines and this will help many in the near future, just a quick question though- what causes the M10 engine to struggle to start up because when when I crank my car it cranks for a very long time and when it finally fires up the minute I let go off the ignition key and accelerator it starts slowly dying out. and not to mention that the spark is very low
@ingosrestorations96422 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Yes, there is not much information for the M10. That is why I am trying to fill the void. As far as the issue you are having there are many items which could cause this issue. Could be something as simple as a hose being loose creating a vacuum leak to a bad fuel pump. You do not state if your M10 is Fuel injected or Carbureted. Start simple, sometimes the forums have good information.
