Why are you cutting into the zucchini to remove it? You should cut thru the stem, not the zucchini itself, unless you're going to cook it immediately. Why are you chopping off the leaves leaving half the stem of the leaf? It should be cut at the base. An open stem will catch water and rot.

To my understanding, you only pick the fruits that fall on the ground. You don’t need to pick them bcoz they r not ready if not falling down from the branches on its own.
