Loving the trail Andy. There looked to be some serious altitude involved, and that airbnb looked like bliss. We are planning to give some trails a go ourselves over the next couple of weeks 🤞 Is it the Great Manchester Run 10k that you are doing? Becky and I have just signed up to run it with one of our friends for her first ever race. It would be great to catch up if we can. Hope your plantar etc are all doing okay!

The trail was a treat, I had no idea I’d be sampling a UTMB course when I met up with Gelu😀I’ve bought some proper trail shoes which are still pristine, Puma Nitro Trac 3s😊Yes it’s the Great Manchester Run (10K), I’ve done it since 2021, it’s a highlight of my running year, especially for the session in Albert Schloss afterwards🍻Thanks for asking, it’s up and down tbh🤔

@@RunFreeandStrong Thanks Reto, my original hope was that I could even-split the race at 5:45/km but that faded away after 5/6K unfortunately🙁But I was determined to go sub-60⚙️💪It’s a great race and atmosphere, the steel bands are fantastic! The LGG thing, that was me digging deep😀

@ It’s Burnley. Though annoyingly nursing a calf injury for the last couple of weeks so haven’t been able to attend 😡 Hoping to be back up and running as it were before too long. Also go to other local ones for a change once the weather gets a bit nicer….

@@TheRunningWhale Thanks Craig, it was a significant effort hence the 93% in zone 5⚙️⚙️. I have another 10K race booked in mid-Feb aswell as one next week, unplanned, I’m doing my nephew a favour in his first 10K. You get a special mention in the shakeout video, you’ll see😀

@@SwimBikeRunStu They were tight on security and ID, bag search into athletes village, etc, also did you know you have to have a fitness certificate to take part in races in France? Health and safety rules. Last year I had to get a form completed by my GP😮

@@RunFreeandStrong I love travelling overseas to race and with the recent extremes in UK weather, it was great to escape and enjoy warmer and sunnier conditions, I’d had a virus too so warmer and dryer helped me recover😊I don’t usually do shakeouts but I do this one because it’s such a great experience✅

Hi Mark, I think I was affected by the virus I started with just after the Christmas tree Parkrun on 21-Dec, it really affected by chest/breathing and it only cleared completely in last day or so. When you see the race video you'll see how hard it was, I filmed throughout the run. Thanks for watching:)

There will be a race video later this week, still in production. How was the VLC 10K, was the weather good for you, it was a bit warm for the marathon in December I recall:)

@AndyCliffMTB Correct Andy, I am the gent from Woodbank Parkrun. The HM went well. I found the temperature just right at the beginning of the race (16°c/17°c) whoever near the end of the race the sun was shining on me and it was getting a bit uncomfortable. I'm glad it was a morning race as the temperature reached 23°c in the afternoon. I would definitely do it again. I loved every minute of it. It's a shame that they don't have Parkrun in Spain, that would be a great experience. I'm now getting ready for the Romeo and Juliet HM in Vorona Italy on 16th February which looks fun.

I have come to learn that if a shakeout run doesnt feel rubbish then ive probably done something wrong. They always seem to feel like that for me. Im sure some boffins would be able to explain it, but it is beyond me. Well done for getting it done though Andy!

It can be really hard to drag yourself out for a shakeout because it feels like you're going to add fatigue to the legs right before a hard effort, but my best races have come after doing a really easy parkrun effort the day before. I will probably do a really light shakeout on friday ahead of Alex Park this week.

Well done for putting yourself down on that volunteer list.👌 We didnt have that much water on our course but we still got wet feet. I remember in 2023 we ran the Tatton Park 10k on the same day as the half marathon and at one point you leave the park and then re-enter via a different gate. The road was flooded all the way across and lots of people were tip toeing around the slippy and muddy verges, meanwhile i went straight through the middle without slowing down. It came up well above my ankles, but I gained a good 30 - 40 places in the race. It was totally worth it. The water dried, but those places I gained are mine forever 😂

@@TheRegularRunner It’s been 3/4 months since I volunteered (at Burnage) so I thought I’d give back on a day when they were likely to be understaffed (and they were). I’ve done Tatton too, that’s quite I tough 10K I think🤔

@AndyCliffMTB It is. I've done it twice and they have 2 different courses. One is more or less an out and back and the other (which they use on the day of the half marathon) is a little different. I found both of them much harder than the relatively flat profile would suggest. I will probably run a 10k there again this year at some point. I'm determined to not let it beat me.

I ran hyndburn a few years back .. nice scenic trail course. Well done on 148 runs... I think 150 and 200 should qualify for a t shirt as 100-250 is a long wait 😅... 98 locations aswell 🤯. I think a 50,100 locations Tourism t shirt aswell 😆..well done for getting it done once again..great video 📹 💪

Nice one Andy!! My local one and the toughest in the area. You did well to keep the trainers relatively clean.... the bottom bit is usually a quagmire! I always do it in trail shoes. Also the course seems to measure long so not one for best times! Nowhere better for complimentary cakes and coffee though😊
