I am retired and still young enough to do work by hand. I have 12500W portable (1150W on propane) I have to plug it in to its 50A outside receptacle. I store it in my garage and roll it out when I need it. I then lock out street power and switch to it. I have enough Propane to run for 2 days. I am in PA. High up where I can't flood and we practically never have natural disasters. Cost $1500 for generator and all other electrical parts I installed my self. We don't lose power very often and its not a matter of survival we just get bored with no TV or internet and my wife is disabled so it's very convenient.

@davejohn2554 сағат бұрын
You can use natural gas or propane. They have smaller ones but running them off gas presents a number of issues. Gasoline doesn't keep well and the carb gums up. Propane can sit for 15 years and burns clean.

So the Generac generator is 4-10 decibels louder than the lawn mower. There ARE ways to lower the noise levels such as placing it on a sound absorbing pad like they do with the Kohlers. The placement they have their at in this video is NOT the best as that back fence will reflect a LOT of noise back to the house but it will also prevent that same noise from sounding as loud to their neighbors so perhaps a benefit there as well. As he stated in this video, once you loose your utility power, noise levels are probably the least of the problems

We just purchased our generator this pass spring, I would highly suggest getting one if their is a need such as for medical equipment use and so on, what I will also suggest is that you thoroughly research all aspects of purchasing a generator from contacting the dealer to the final installation, there are issues with permits, codes, fuel cost that could drastically increase the price of installing a generator, we have natural gas so our only option was installing a propane tank which we found was cheaper if we purchased our own tank, the fuel prices are extremely high, so if you install a generator please set it to do a self test every month instead of the manufacturers recommended weekly test, we love our new generator and so far we haven’t had to use it during this years hurricane season.

With the replacment bulbs. Must you get new bulbs from holley or are they just normal h4 or what everbulbs. Been debating about getting them cause I was not sure about the ease or replacement bulbs, the other reason I haven't got them yet is because it says they are plastic lenses and not glass
@JustCantSitStill17 күн бұрын
@@dustinjacobs7087 lens is plastic , fitment was not ideal as you can see. I wish they installed more flush with the bezel but it will work , and I would use the replacement bulbs from www.morimotohid.com/holley-retro-bright-led-cartridges-mm
Your meter may be picking up additional sound waves reflecting off the hard surfaces behind and to the right of the unit. So it might be quieter if you had fewer and lower wall surfaces.

You can build something over the generator to isolate the sound.That way it’s not so bad. I installed a big generator for the hospital in Delaware when I was working an electrical contractor. The generator was really loud.So the Union carpenters built a building around it to drown the sound and it worked perfectly.
