For the better performance live, i dont need ableton or my laptop to play live and i can just do the same things as in ableton to go. Simple said haha.

The midi out latency setting is somehow completely new to me and t solved the issue, my gear is perfectly in time for the first time ever.. however when I first push play there is the same latency on the first beat, and the audio speeds up to catch up and then the second beat is right on. I'm so close to actually not having latency that it is extra painful

I've always know it to be off on the first beat then catch up. It's quite the nuisance.

I think it is better to use External Instrument to bring your modular into ableton. That way Ableton compensates for latency introducing plugins you use in your project later on. You still have to set the midi latency in Settings but only once every buffer size you set.

I run my projects at 96kHz so I have like a full 16th note of latency lmao I just use the track delay function and push things almost a whole bar behind so it’s all synced. It’s dumb but whatever it works for me lol

For techno, in no particular order: Behringer Edge, Korg MS20 (mini), Soma Lyra-8, Moog Sub37, PWM Malevolent. But something like the Peak is an absolute workhorse.
@RaquelFoster
@RaquelFoster 11 күн бұрын
I love the Minitaur, but the DFAM (and every other Moog with Volca knobs) is a ridiculous waste of money. The Edge is 1/3 the price and still better build quality (and has MIDI). I really am not much of a Behringer fan, but the Edge and Model D and K2 are great and they're such a good value. And the RD-9 is pretty great, too. But for pads and polysynths in general, the Minilogue is overrated, and '90s romplers are criminally underrated. Maybe I just got bored of the Minilogue because I listened to too much Tycho for a few years. But if you've got the money for a Minilogue you'd have more fun spending it on a Zen Delay.

I would also add behringer neutron... patchbay is extremely usable, especially if you are into eurorack stuff... synth itself has a lot of possibilities and it costs like around 200 euros...

It’s not always about minor scale, you can get atonal movement in a sequence if the relationship between two oscillators is inharmonic

+1 for the Behringer Edge. I use it with my Syntakt and Modular gear and it's been a lot of fun for just turning on and getting straight into a little groove in a very short amount of time.

Love the EDGE so much ! In my opinion it's the perfect hardware for any bedroom producer who's working in the box. It syncs via USB and needs only one input and uses very little space. And it can do techno so well, also surprisingly wide range in sounds. Ground shaking low end, gritty percussion, bleeps and all sorts of sequences, hi hats, you can even play it like a normal mono synth with your keyboard if you trigger it over USB with your daw. Really loving this machine. I don't even think I would swap it for a DFAM even if it was for free. The USB sync is just so comfortable. Also currently 160€ , that is an absolute steal

There is a clap, same pattern as the kick. Just to have a clean transient for the sidechain. But there a a lot of different ways to achieve this!

Sounds a little bit like adam beyer style techno. I haven't done research , but i did wonder what beyer used to get such punchy compressed drum sounds. I would guess he uses(or did) use compression but probably a hardware compressor. Regardless, years ago when i first heard his music ,possibly his first couple of records, (one was called the eggplant e.p., and the other was a double red vinyl release, and the first couple of drumcode releases , those records had really hard punching drums. I still have those records, and at the time of their release, i never heard Any techno from anyone who had "that" sound. I know it's compression but he definitely created his own style sound.

@tec9-official

@@throughzer0896 i just arranged this one very simple, for a good arrangement i would do some more sound effects. And most of the time i also record loops without filter so i keep the high frequencies and can automate the filter through the track to keep more movement!
