Classic !! A bit controversial what I'm going to say - but I prefer this than the Damned's own song !! 😋

This was the gig that was part filmed for the New Order “Play at home” documentary for Channel 4. Lonesome tonight, Temptation and Thieves like us were the songs shown. It would’ve been the first time Thieves like us was played as they had just come back from New York recording with Arthur Baker.

From the back of a bootleg cassette of this concert I somehow obtained back in the day: "Midway through the second song, Hookey shows, 'Ah, the back sheep returns,' mutters Bernard, while shooting Hookey a rueful glance. Hookey straps on his bass, looks out into the audience and apologizes: 'Hi shitheats!'"
@NOWtheband4 жыл бұрын
"shitheats" is a brilliant insult. :-) Hooky's a good lad.

@@Hwral Nah honestly man, this is like '95/'98 (maybe earlier), I saw em plenty during that time and even was mates with Mark a little (As much as you can be with such a man - ie: We made each other laugh a lot - from sitting around in various bars getting mullered to fuck once in a while - I'm a musician from Oldham myself, see (about 20 miles from Prestwick, so we had a similar upbringing) - we never once talked music I don't think though (except how utterly shit so many bands were lol)- We all know he's in a class of his own, what would be the point? And it was well known that that kindof talk bored the living piss outa him) - He just lived THAT hard and had the kinda genes that age you like this in your mid 40s - for real All this "So Sad" :( RIP stuff (Like with Lemmy) is *bullshit* and can fuck right off :They *chose* how they wanted to live, and *lived it!* .......what more can any one ask of life?

Hitched all the way from London to Manchester to see this gig. Spoke with Paul Hanley at both London and Manchester gigs, nice bloke esp as he was doing A level English like me and my London mate. Even pulled one of the books from from the course, think it was H. G. Wells short stories, out of his jacket !
