The actor was Michael Ward, a stalwart of British comedy films.

@@tomkent4656 thanks for the info, i've seen him before, in another of their sketches - when they were inviting Eric Porter to their show. He was Porter's dresser. But i never knew his name. I'll look him up

@@tomkent4656 I didn't know they made two of these sketches. The Hugh Paddick sketch is the other.

@@lrcrabbenz When they moved to Thames TV initially Eddie Braben didn't go with them. Barry Cryer and John Junkin wrote some new stuff for them.but oh, did they recycle Eddie's old scripts.

The dialogue is almost identical but this one's a bit more fiery.
