Great video, thank you for sharing your experience! Could you do a riff on AOP for SaaS products? Interested in how the COGS and SG&A work together for a services-based product hosted in the cloud

I would have liked to see a mid or late career outlook as well. I know lots of Financial Planners make $300k+ easy down the road in their careers while doing minimal work because they no longer have to do the work of growing their client base.

Years of experience seems too much. I've known 30 year old Directors at places. Went to business school with someone who was a SFA at Boeing for about 2 years. Hopped over to Microsoft as a Finance Mgr for about another 2 years. Now a Sr Finance Mgr. So from SFA to Sr Manager in roughly 5 years.

FP&A is best suited to MBAs, in the MBA programs you learn a bit of everything. CPAs in FP&A are fairly common too.

I do product/prce volume mix analysis for work. I’ve been doing this for a year and I’m still trying to wrap my head around this concept. You made it easy to understand and this is very helpful. Could you recommend any books or article that’ll help me further understand this concept of PVM? Thanks 😊

Great video. Would be good to know in plain English what the discount rate is. Is it supposed to be equal to the expected interest rate based on inflation or how do you assume the discount rate?
@jhoncadalin5887
@jhoncadalin5887 3 ай бұрын
Cost of capital, when you borrow there is interest rate, is the cost of capital worth the investment? NPV can answer that. Also discount rate can be another investment which gives a certain return, is the project you plan to do gives better outcome than the other project? NPV can answer that.

Technically gross profit is NOT gross margin. Gross profit = Revenue-COGS. However, Gross margin= Gross profit/Revenue. Gross profit is the actual dollar amount, whereas gross profit Margin is a percentage.

That is perhaps a textbook definition but in my 20 years across public, private, and PE (including working at portcos for the top PE firms)…. They are used interchangeably. If people want the percentage they will say what’s the gross profit % or gross margin %….
