thanks. just bought a fuji sportif. 1st experience w drop bars & these inline barrel adjusters. noticed yesterday its a little sloppy when changing gears on the cassette. I either over shift or it will fall back down to the smaller cog. maybe a little too much tension?

Like many people I watched your video to find out a tip to help me remove a really tight SRAM DUB 8mm crank bolt. I will share a tip I found that worked for me @Pedal Hounds TV on KZbin - Remove the wheels, remove the rear derailleur, place the bike on a padded mat on the floor with the crank arm parallel to the rear chain stay - insert a long 8mm Allan wrench - then step on the wrench handle with the crank arm and pedal down on the floor to break the crank bolt free.
@BikeTeacher8 күн бұрын
That sounds good. I have used a DeWalt impact wrench. Just be sure the 8mm hex tool is in good shape to minimize slippage. Power tools are frowned apon so proceed with caution if it’s not your bike.

Very good video. Thank you. I’ve got a iirc command post and it only works when I pull up on the saddle. It doesn’t go up by itself. My bike is a 2014 specialized enduro expert. I bought used. I wonder what I should do to fix it. Rebuild the whole thing? Is they’re a kit to rebuild? What type of post were you using?
@BikeTeacher10 күн бұрын
Thank you! I had one to, as my buddy. They are finicky after some time. If it takes air pressure, I always had to fill it up past the recommendation. This made it into a widow maker, beware. The age May be its downfall. Basic rebuilds are not too involved and are doable. As far as kits, I think probably not. The command post are obsolete now and parts are probably hard to find. Ebay could be good for this situation if needed.

Just had one of these fail on a 1 week old bike. Think it was cross threaded in the fork from the factory. Fortunately the new forks needed are covered under warranty. Dreadful design to put a 6mm hex in soft alloy. Anyone make any in steel or with a better fastener head?
@BikeTeacher10 күн бұрын
Whoa, that sucks. Unfortunately all the ones I've seen are a soft aluminum. If used often they will wear quickly at the hex area. They should have an expiration date on them. Any aftermarket axles offered are even lighter than the stock, so probably softer metal maybe. I nice titanium sounds good.

@BikeTeacher25 күн бұрын
I haven’t tested it personally in harsh riding conditions and I have not had anyone come back and tell me that their pedal failed. Other than that the repair should be extremely trustworthy. Always inspect the area before every ride.

I'm one of those DIYers / bicyclists who get confused on thread direction, even after I just read it! I guess it took me several years as a teenager to learn and remember right - tight - left - loose, and to do that without consciously thinking, that was so ingrained into my thought process, that to go backward seems wrong, every time. And, even when I'm going the correct way to loosen, sometimes things were installed too tight at the factory, that I begin doubting myself, (again, when trying to remove something.) At the moment, I'm dealing with an aluminum, direct mount, rear derailleur frame that became stripped. I'll use a medium threadlocker on the Helicoil repair, but if that doesn't work, worse case, I know I can go to a Drop out Saver. Wish all manufacturers would use hangars (and sell them cheaply). - I'm sometimes able to save (fix) mildly damaged threads by coming in from the opposite side, w/ the correct bolt / pedal.

Thanks for sharing. These are all the things I help people with when I’m in class with them. The way I teach is directly related to the problems I had to overcome such as yourself. Because of that I’m able to make headway with the students and help them brake the process down so it stays with them and not forget it. But that’s all dependent on repetition. ⚙️

How do you get the cable head out because mine isn't lined up with the hole and it's stuck
@BikeTeacherАй бұрын
Try to create lots of slack with the cable so you can manipulate and twist the cable head to your needed alignment. Twist the cable and the head will follow.

Got my girlfriends bike with a Shimano Acera derailuer in back. I don't know what you call the thumb shifter part, but she has small thumbs and complained was hard to press to move the front derail. from chain ring to chain ring (I guess that would be small to large). I rode it and tried it and I see what she means. I don't know if I have the same shifter up front that you show here, but I am going to try and lube something to make it easier for her to deprress the thumb part of this. The index finger part, of course, works fine, ezpzy.
@BikeTeacher10 күн бұрын
In some cases it's the cable sliding through eh housing that creates resistance. Combine this with left and right turnstone create more tension that all goes back to the thumbs. Lube the cables where applicable. Slide the housings out of the way, this allows eyeballs on the previously covered cable. Some cable are dirty and dry, or sticky, rusty or kinked with a bend which all creates friction. I need to make a video on that.
@stevec91029 күн бұрын
@ I didn’t quite understand the left and right turnstone part of your response. But thank you for responding. A short video would be very nice.

This is the first step to replacing the internal rear brake line. In this scenario the battery on this Levo did not need to be removed. But to better understand if the bike came with a designated tunnel for the rear brake line I wanted to explore and see inside the downtube. This paid off because It gave me a clear view showing the hydraulic line incased in a plastic tube.

I've found this method biomechanically seems to work for everyone I've tried it with: 1. Position the crank so that it extends down from the bottom bracket like a continuation of the seat tube 2. Place the ball of your heel on the axle of the pedal and increase height the saddle until your seated position results in your leg being straight and knee locked, but keeping your hips level to the ground 3. When you resume your normal riding position with the ball of your big toe joint over the pedal axle, the saddle height should be the correct position to for your personal amount of leg/knee bend

2x would fix that

What if you have drain holes in your wheels? I just bought a Yamaha Moro 5 Ebike and got done converting the front wheel to tubeless. I aired it up and noticed it deflated quickly. When I inspected the valve and rim I noticed there is a drain hole on the rim and the back wheel has it too. They are small holes most likely to drain water if you ride in the rain? Anyway, what can I do about this? Would the sealant take care of it - I didn't add it yet. The wheels had tubes in them but the manufacture does mention they are tubeless ready. The rims have tape that were factory sealed - seems professionally sealed.
