Hi Fiona, nice to hear from you again. My deepest apologies, I remembered, after I messaged you, that we had talked before. I have contacted the society on a few occasions but they are reluctant to let any go. Hopefully that will change soon. @@fionafarrell43

@@cooldaddy2877 No problem at all,keep trying,get your fencing ready and a shelter and offer to become a breeder.I am getting so much milk from just 2 nanny goats. I buy whole organic oats from Robins Glen in Kilkenny and organic mixed corn from Equestrian and Farm Feeds in Lisburn for them. They are super animals,no trouble at all

I have had goats in the past and had no problems with them and would love to have Old Irish Goats. I currently have a few Soay Sheep and they are also great animals that are so easy to keep. I am based in Donegal. @@fionafarrell43

Hi Fiona, I hope that you are doing well. I have found a kind lady in Co Clare who has a female Old Irish Goat. It was inspected by the Society and confirmed as being the real deal. She has offered to let me breed from her goat which was very kind of her. I am 50% there. I just need to find a male to borrow to do the business! I took your advice and emailed the Society but havnt heard anything back from them yet. I did contact them about six months ago but they were not keen on letting any animals go. Anyway, I will keep trying and keep searching. Have a lovely day!@@fionafarrell43

Beautiful animals, did you get them from Mulranny? Was interested in possibly getting some. How easy are they to keep, could they be easily domesticated on flatter grass farmland ?

Lovely animals. I contacted the society but they were not too keen on giving any out. If you have a spare boy and girl I would be interested in taking them.

@@fionafarrell43 Ok, thanks Fiona. May I ask if you find them useful in subduing gorse, rushes and brambles?
@fionafarrell432 жыл бұрын
@@cooldaddy2877 They need good fencing and tethering and at least half an hour a day access to tree bark,brambles and fresh browsing and grazing,they get organic whole oats and organic mixed corn as a treat and evening feed and garlic and oregano.They spend most of the day in my well fenced field,There is a lot of work with them but I am able to milk the nanny goats now as the kids are over 2 months old.It would be easier if I could castrate or kill the young males ,like I kill my rooster chicks but I am just helping the old irish goats as best I can for as long as I can.They are stubborn but small and intelligent and Hardy,friendly animals.Hope that everyone can buy these animals again when we get the numbers up please God
