Oh dear how I hated Andy and his naff bunch back then. Pity it is now that he wasn’t given far more time to reminisce as his memory is quite sharp. What’s stopping you lads from finding him a writer to organize his life into a sorely needed book.

Isn't Andy FL a nice bloke? Pretty good raconteur also, and for a rocker around in the drug-laden rock scene of the late 60's onwards he's got a decent memory of the times too. 'Wide-Eyed and Legless' must be one of the few songs about being pished (as opposed to stoned) and its appealing chorus vocals make it more listenable. The guest vocals on 'Wild Man' (about Yetis) on the divine Kate Bush's most recent album are rather good too, one of the better tracks on the album. BTW, 14 years since your last album? Get a move on with the new one, Kate!

It can't be overlooked that Lawrence wrote some terrific songs, with both Felt and Denim. Pick him apart all you want, but he has produced good rock music.

Such modesty. Just one of Will’s many endearing qualities. The way he plays down his talent (as a guitarist), it’s almost self-deprecating. As a musician myself, I can easily say that Will has been one of my biggest influences over the years, though I’ve never looked at him as some kind of “guitar god”. That kind of thing has always rubbed me wrong. That whole ‘deification’ thing that people do with musicians. Especially with guitarists. For me it’s never been about all that virtuoso nonsense. The thing about Will that has always been so inspiring and interesting is the way he so effectively creates these sonic worlds and landscapes, that I can so easily immerse myself in and just get completely absorbed. It’s a difficult thing to describe. He just has this trademark sound that has often been imitated but _never_ duplicated, as the saying goes. That big, majestic, swirling, psychedelic feeling that his playing puts across. It always manages to take me somewhere else. For me it’s like a drug unto itself. And then on top of all that, he’s just a great person. Not only does he seem like the nicest and most genuine guy one could ever hope to meet (never mind the staggering amount of talent and originality he possesses), but he also has this certain trait, in spades no less, that is an all too rare quality these days… _common sense._ The man can really take off into otherworldly dimensions in his guitar playing, while definitely having his feet firmly on the ground. I feel fortunate to be alive in a time and place where I get to experience his sounds and insights as they arrive. He can also tell quite a tale. What an incredible memory. I can’t wait for the third book. Thank you for being who you are Will, and for all the great things you’ve shared with us.

Went to see Inspiral Carpets with friends in 1990. Drunk and sweaty on the way out, me and mate saw Miki and Emma, and turned against the leaving people to go up to them to tell them we loved Lush. I still love Lush.

Lawrence is anything but a failure. He has reached a level of “Cult” status that anyone would be proud of. Apart from Denim and the Mozart records, FELT produced a diverse and beautiful collection of music that is still regarded to this day. In the Autumn of ‘89, as a student studying abroad in Leeds, I managed to see FELT play live twice. Once in Leeds, and their final show in Birmingham. These wonderful memories will always stay with me. . (Side note: At the Leeds show, I took a photograph of Lawrence onstage, and as the flash went off, by accident, he gave me a dirty look and the audience around me gasped. I was so embarrassed. After the set, I jumped on the stage and grabbed the setlist. They came back onstage for the encore and Lawrence couldn’t find the setlist. He saw a piece of paper on the floor, picked it up, and looked in disgust as he realized it wasn’t the setlist. Again, another embarrassing moment. They played their encore and I went back home elated. And yes, I still have that amazing photo and setlist.) Thank you Lawrence for all the artistic and musical contributions over the years. You are a star in my eyes.

For those who lived behind the Eastern Bloc the only way to listen to The Hollies, The Beatles and so many other bands was Radio Free Europe (short-wave transmission), Radio Luxembourg, BBC. Many thanks. I remember that the Beatles broke up in 1970 and communist Romania still did not allow the movies “A Hard Day’s Night”, “Help” or videos with The Hollies, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks etc to be released in the country. There is no doubt in my mind that the music of the 60s brought people from around the world together under the same common denominator, we have the European Union and on the horizon we can glimpse a World Union. If the seeds of everything were created in a world with extra dimensions, which most of us call Heaven, then outlined on its sub-dimensions at the moment of the Big Bang, I think everything is constructively predestined. So yes, in that sense, Graham is one of the pillars of creation, many thanks. Just a thought :)

At the end of his presidency when there would be no quid pro quo. And both books were hugely successful, justifying the publishers big advance. Melania's getting a windfall at the start of the presidency. After Bezos refusing to endorse Kamala at the Washington Post, this looks like bribery or protection money paid to America's first felonious president.

That was after Obama's presidency and those books sold many copies and made money for the publisher. There was no quid pro quo. Bezos is scared of Trump and is currying favor or bribing or offering protection money or whatever...., it does not look good. Just like Bezos stopping the Washington Post from endorsing Kamala Harris as they intended to do.

How two men of David and Mark's vintage can be shocked at the role of money in US politics I don't know. Did they miss Bezos, and other 'tech bros' and sisters handing out their wedge in 2020 for Biden? Did they not miss Wall Street paying the Clintons millions of dollars for after dinner talks once leaving office? Or Wall Street - again - forking out hundreds of thousands of dollars for works by renowned and celebrated artist Hunter Biden? And who wants to be stood outside in the freezing rain anyway? I'm just glad that the display of change of British leaders occurs with nothing more than an unceremonious phone call to Pickford's. Stick to the music lads, your NYT, Guardianista slips are showing.
