Einer der Filme, die mir meisten im Herzen sitzen, welchen ich mit 11 geschaut habe. 12 Jahre später weckt er viele nostalgische Erinnerungen beim Anschauen. Zum Glück war ich beim ersten Mal schauen noch um 0-5 Uhr morgens wach, da er um diese Zeit im Fernsehen lief 😊. Der nächste Film den ich dahingehend schaue: Der Seewolf.

January 5th is the 12th night of Christmas before Epiphany when the Magi visited infant Jesus. "The King" is the most beautiful song I know about it. The five most influential founders of the English folk-rock revolution in the 70s sing this song -- Ashley Hutchings, Maddy Prior, Martin Carthy, Peter Knight, and Tim Hart. Ashley Hutchings made it all happen including Fairport Convention, the Albion Dance Band, and other great groups . Ashley is singing bass on this cut, and is the guy in a suit and/or wearing small round glasses.

The song is actually sung to accompany the Welsh version of 'Hunting the Wren'. The 'King' being the wren - 'The King of the birds'.

Die einzige Version die wirklich gut ist, man hört förmlich die Schwere der Arbeit auf einem Schiff in dieser Zeit. Ich hatte die SCHATZINSEL als Hörspielplatte. 2LPs waren das, so ca 1965 oder 66 und war von anfang an und bis heute fasziniert von der Seefahrt auf den grossen alten Seglern. grüsse aus Asien

I was just watching the Imagined Village version of this. And it's a fantastic version. But I can't agree that it's better than Maddy. She has a voice like a skeletal cat, that just when you feel that you're getting on with life, it miaows and gets you just in the base of the spine. Unearthly.
