Jewish Geography is remarkable! Tonight, while looking at a list of the art collection of Adele Rosenwald Levy and her husband David M. Levy, M.D, I decided to search the internet for Julius Rosenwald and his family. In Lessing Rosenwald's obituary, it mentions one of his children, "Mrs. Bernard Becker of St. Louis, MO"! Could it be the same "Bernie Becker?" Since, I am an ophthalmologist who trained at the Wilmer Eye Institute, I am familiar with Dr. Bernard Becker's fame in the field of glaucoma. It had to be Dr. Becker! How remarkable that my "adopted" Uncle Leon M. Levy, of Scranton, PA, was the brother of David M. Levy, a pre-eminent child psychiatrist, who married your great-aunt Adele! Leo's mother was blind and ran a corner grocery store, which Leon managed after he dropped-out of high school after his father died. Leo paid for the education of his brothers David, Jack and Isadore, and his sister Dorothy. Isadore moved to Paris to study painting, and married a French woman. When Adele and David traveled to France, it was Isadore who took them to the artists' studios and told them what to buy! I'm sorry I never met your mother. My best wishes, David

Your family is such a beautiful example of love and commitment. This tribute to your mom gave me a brief but full look at the incredible woman she was during her life! It was an honor to attend. I loved when the head of Beyond Housing spoke of the IMPACT Mrs. Becker had on this world. Her reach was far and her actions thoughtful and invested in those in our community who are the most vulnerable. You all have carried her beautiful spirit forward in your own unique ways: mechanics, music, art, education, medicine, travel, philanthropy, engaged activism, and caregiving…… I imagine she would be so proud of the continued BECKER impact on our communities.
