I come from relative poverty myself and when I see alumni of high prestigious universities like Princeton and BC I feel more in poverty. What is your solution of this kind of poverty when I compare myself with elits in Princeton, Harvard and Yale (not look at income variable, but disadvantage variable among lower ranked university students)?

Hey Steve. Trump won a third time. I remember in 2020, emailing you and your condescending response to me. Now, we have a mandate to restore America to its former glory. Additionally, we no longer have to fear the specter of court packing. Have a great day!

Without even hesitation I can say, that what the USA needs is someone who truly thinks about their people and make their oligarchs contribute with what they must or more sooner than later, they will suffer and dangerously, collapse. This guy here, seems like the man.

Carr is wonderful & at ease. That’s fortunate because Lucy Sante was not the best interviewer. She might have drawn out more insights about the book if she had shown more curiosity. Instead, this was more like a conversation about two authors reminiscing about a common acquaintance.

You guys on drugs? Germany is headed into authoritarian rule. Joining Italy Hungary and others due to fossil fuels. You might consider pulling Exxon's 2024 global outlook executive summary from its webpage. Per exxon we're depleting fossil fuels at 15% annually,a nearly 2X faster than international energy agency predictions. That by 2050 we will be at 30% of today's levels. 5he report calls for rapid electrification. Grid upgrades. EVs. BTW in 2050 my 3 great grandchildren will be 32. Watched countless similar presentations. Not once is there any acknowledgement that GDP is 99% correlated with flammable fossils and materials are 100%. Money is in fact an energy promise. Our endless frustrating use of game of thrones leadership wanting to destroy each other must die if there's any hope of addressing climate and rapidly depleting fossil fuels

The laws of physics and thermodynamics are available to any nation with the human and material resources to use them. The arrogance and hubris of America's warmongering political leaders is increasingly leading to backlash among the 7.7 billion humans outside of the 332 million Americans behind the overwhelming majority of the violence cruelty and endless militarism. Our leading exports are weapons of death and flammable fossils fuels. Both of which are now threatening WW3 and a slow death by climate change. State Department today a wholly owned subsidiary of the Pentagon and its operators the corporate Warfare Queens who NEVER lose a contract. We must have PEACE. Diplomacy must become our leading way to negotiations.

I really hope this info is for the alumni that don't pay attention to much of anything of the world. As if it was for the graduates it would be a loss that they only found out about this now. Im glad that people that didn't know about it know now, I just can't waste my time listening to some older individuals be astounded by what has been common place for quite some time. Get Gud

This universal army as utopia seems mad. It seems mad but given Jameson's approach it is a shock-and-awe argument. It's utopia, afterall. The older I get the faster the clock ticks, and the less time I give for naivety. Jameson is worth some time. Youthful "mad" optimism, yes. Immature "mad" dogmatism, no. Wishing for political paradise does not conjure it into being. But I appreciate Jameson's critique. He grabs ideas by the jugular and struggled whether to squash socialism and postmodernism or let them run their course. Letting the Left spiral apart sounds condescending but it is what it is. Jameson's shock-and-awe argument (as the practical versus theoretical antagonism) hints at the unspoken concern of the militant politic, whether Left or Right. And to be real, every Vet I know is happy they won't die in the army. The army may embody ideas as purpose to die for but is not a social institution to die _in_. So religion, Jameson's previous utopian option, is where I landed. Religion can be (and has been) violent like a military, but religion is the vehicle to transcend beyond this social reality. Ironically, critiques of religion recognize that it fulfills various utopian ideas, like the "therapy" that Jameson says his universal army would provide. Religion satisfies the reality of the here and pushes through the madness of the future, as Tolstoy said. That practical realization happened for me as people I loved passed away beyond the veil, and they reminded me the end of my time ticked nearer. RIP Jameson.

It is really fascinating to think that a younger, more naively idealistic, version of me watched this very video a few years ago and felt like it was utterly genius... Now, I see the mad trying to will reality into an "ideal" version of itself through self-indoctrination and wishful thinking.
